Ross & Smith twin islands sandbar
Ross and Smith are a pair of small islands joined at low tide by a spectacular natural sandbar located off Diglipur in North Andaman. The sandbar appears like a white ribbon of beach connecting two lush islets with shallow, crystal-clear turquoise water on both sides — a stunning example of coastal geomorphology and one of the most photogenic spots in the Andaman archipelago. The site is popular for island-hopping, photography, shallow snorkeling, beach walks and bird/sea-turtle viewing (seasonal).

Walk the sandbar at low tide for best effect. Snorkel in designated safe spots; avoid stepping on corals.

Safety Requirements
Always wear a life jacket on boats — ensure operator provides one and it fits.
Check tide charts — the sandbar is most impressive at low to mid-low tide; strong currents can occur outside safe windows.
Do not stand on or damage corals; follow 'no-touch' rules for marine life.
Carry basic first-aid, sun protection, and sufficient drinking water.
Avoid visits during rough sea / monsoon; operators will cancel if unsafe.
Respect protected areas and signage — some beaches are turtle nesting grounds and restricted at certain times.
Tips
Bring sunscreen (reef-safe), hat, sunglasses and a dry bag for electronics.
Check tide times before booking to experience the full sandbar — low tide is best for walking and photos.
Carry cash for local permits, tips and small purchases — limited card acceptance in Diglipur.
Hire a reputable local boat operator and, if possible, a guide who knows safe snorkeling spots and tide windows.
Avoid single-use plastics; carry a small bag to take all trash back to the mainland.
If you want calm seas and best visibility, choose morning departures.
Respect wildlife — do not disturb nesting turtles or bird colonies; maintain distance.
