Tips
Book local guides/porters in advance during peak season (June–September)
Start early to avoid afternoon clouds and gain better chances of clear mountain views
Pack layered clothing, insulated jacket, gloves, headlamp and spare batteries
Bring waterproof cover for backpacks and quick-dry clothing — trails can be wet or muddy
Carry snacks with high-energy content and electrolyte powders; hot drinks at camps boost morale
Respect local ecology — carry out all trash and avoid disturbing flora/fauna
Check local road/permit requirements (Rohtang/seasonal checkpoints may affect approach)
Have travel insurance covering trekking up to the route’s altitude if possible
Keep copies of ID and emergency contact numbers; mobile coverage may be spotty
