Sanctuary of Truth

The Sanctuary of Truth is an enormous all-wood structure in Pattaya, Thailand — a hybrid of temple and museum built to showcase traditional Thai woodcraft, Hindu-Buddhist cosmology and Eastern philosophy. Conception began in the late 1980s under the vision of Lek Viriyaphant and the project remains under continual carving and restoration. The building is notable for its intricate hand-carved sculptures, spectacular open interiors, and use of traditional joinery (minimal or no nails), blending religious and philosophical motifs from Buddhism, Hinduism and ancient Eastern cultures.
