Snorkeling at Crystal Bay
Crystal Bay (Pantai Crystal Bay) is one of Nusa Penida's most popular snorkel spots — a sheltered, pear-shaped bay with clear water, healthy reef patches and abundant reef fish. The bay is known for excellent visibility on calm days and, during certain months, possible sightings of large pelagics such as the mola-mola (ocean sunfish). This activity is ideal for beginners through experienced snorkelers wanting an easy shore/boat-access snorkel combined with a scenic beach visit.

Safety Requirements
Ability to swim or use of a lifejacket (lifejackets should be worn if you are not a confident swimmer).
Follow your guide's instructions — currents can be stronger than they appear.
Avoid touching or standing on coral to protect both reef and yourself.
Check local weather and sea conditions; operators may cancel in rough seas.
Notify guides of any medical conditions (asthma, heart issues) and bring medication if needed.
Tips
Bring reef-safe sunscreen (zinc-based preferred) — regular sunscreen damages coral.
Wear a rashguard or wetsuit top for sun protection and to reduce stings.
Bring a waterproof camera or a snorkel mask with mount for underwater photos.
Carry small change (IDR) for park fees, rentals, snacks or tipping; facilities are basic.
Book morning trips for calmer seas and better visibility; avoid choppy afternoons.
Check gear before entering water — ensure mask fit and snorkel purge work.
Respect marine life: do not chase or touch fish, turtles or other animals.
If prone to seasickness, take motion-sickness medication before boarding.
