Singapore visa & passport guide
Everything Indian passport holders need to visit Singapore — visa type, fees, processing time, documents, and the step-by-step application process.
Singapore Visa for Indian Passport Holders
Indian passport holders need a visa before flying to Singapore. There is no visa on arrival. The application is filed electronically through the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) SAVE system, which Indian travellers access via an ICA-authorised visa agent, an authorised airline, or a Singapore-registered local contact. Approvals are commonly issued as multiple-entry visas, and since 2024 many Indian applicants with clean travel history are being granted 2-year multiple-entry validity.
Documents Required
- Original passport with at least 6 months validity from arrival date
- Completed Form 14A (ICA visa application form), signed
- One recent colour photograph, 35mm x 45mm, matt finish, white background, full face without headgear (taken within last 3 months)
- Photocopy of passport bio page and last page with address
- Confirmed return or onward air tickets
- Hotel booking confirmation or Singapore address where you will stay
- Bank statements for the last 3 months with sufficient balance
- Income tax returns or Form 16 for the last 2 years
- Employment letter, or business registration proof for self-employed, or student ID for students
- Covering letter explaining purpose and dates of travel
- Letter of Introduction (Form V39A) from a Singapore citizen or PR, if applying through a local contact
- Copies of old visas such as US, UK, Schengen, Australia, Japan, if held (strengthens the case for 2-year multiple entry)
How to Apply
- 1Book your Singapore itinerary and keep confirmed return tickets and hotel bookings ready, since ICA expects proof of onward travel.
- 2Fill Form 14A and get your photograph taken to Singapore specification (35x45mm, white background). Photo rejection is the most common cause of delay.
- 3Submit the file to an ICA-authorised visa agent in your city, or to your airline if it offers this service, or have a Singapore-based contact or hotel apply on your behalf through SAVE.
- 4The agent uploads your documents to ICA's SAVE system and pays the SGD 30 fee. You receive an application reference.
- 5Track the status and collect the approval letter, which is emailed as a PDF. Print it on A4 paper in colour or black and white.
- 6Carry the printed approval letter along with your passport to the airport. The letter is checked at check-in and again at Changi immigration.
Good to Know
- The eVisa approval letter is permission to travel, not a guaranteed entry. The officer at Changi decides your actual length of stay and may grant fewer than 30 days.
- If you hold a valid visa or long-term pass for the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Germany or Switzerland, you may qualify for the 96-hour Visa Free Transit Facility while transiting Singapore to or from a third country. This does not apply if Singapore is your final destination on a round trip from India.
- Complete the SG Arrival Card online within 3 days before arrival. It is free on the ICA website or app. Avoid third-party sites that charge for it.
- Carry proof of funds. A rough benchmark of around SGD 100 per day of stay in cash or card statements is sensible if questioned.
- Singapore has zero tolerance on chewing gum imports, e-cigarettes and vapes (banned outright, with heavy fines), and duty-free cigarette allowance is nil. Declare or discard before clearing customs.
- Do not carry more than 2 litres of liquor duty free, and remember there is no duty-free concession on alcohol if you are arriving from Malaysia.
- Overstaying even by a few days can lead to a ban, so plan buffer days carefully if you are combining Singapore with Malaysia or Bali.
- Apply at least 3 weeks ahead if you are travelling during Indian school holidays or around Chinese New Year (January or February), when application volumes spike.
Visa rules and fees change — verify with the official embassy or immigration website before booking travel.
