November to April (dry season) for calm seas, clear skies and best island-hopping conditions. The monsoon season (May–October) brings heavier rain, rougher seas and reduced boat schedules.

Tropical coastal climate: temperatures typically range from about 24–34°C (75–93°F). Humid year-round with most rainfall during the southwest monsoon (May–October). Expect sunny mornings and possible afternoon showers in shoulder seasons.

Nearest airport: Krabi International Airport (KBV) — about 20–30 km (30–40 minutes) by car to Ao Nang depending on traffic. Regular minivan/bus transfers connect Krabi Town, Ao Nang and the airport. Longtail boats and speedboats run from Ao Nang pier to Railay and nearby islands. Buses and long-distance coaches link Krabi with Phuket, Trang and Bangkok (overnight buses available). Local transport: tuk-tuks, songthaews and taxis; many areas are walkable along the beachfront.

3–5 days to enjoy Ao Nang, a day trip to Railay and at least one island-hopping tour; extend to 7+ days if adding diving courses or inland attractions.
