Best time: November to February for cool, dry weather and clear views; rainy season (June–September) offers lush greenery and waterfalls but trails can be slippery.

Cooler than surrounding lowlands, especially at night on the plateau—expect chilly mornings and nights in the cool season and sudden rain showers during the monsoon.

The park is open year-round. Entry fees and camping permits are required; fees vary for Thai and international visitors and for overnight camping—check the official park office or local authorities for current rates and to register before overnight stays.

Located in Loei Province in northeastern Thailand. Nearest town: Phu Kradueng district; nearest regional airport: Loei (small regional flights) or larger airports in Khon Kaen and Udon Thani with onward bus or minibus connections. The common approach is by road to the park base, then a maintained hiking trail (about 8–10 km) up to the plateau. Some visitors hire local guides or porters.

2–3 days to allow time for the ascent, exploring the plateau, and descent; day trips are possible but very strenuous.

Sturdy hiking boots, layered warm clothing for cool nights, rain jacket, headlamp or flashlight, sleeping bag or warm blanket for camping, water purification or enough water, sun protection and insect repellent.

Local Isan foods (sticky rice, grilled chicken, spicy salads) are available in nearby villages; small markets sell snacks and basic supplies near the park entrance. Souvenirs include local handicrafts and woven items—support community vendors where possible.
