Karnaprayag Confluence,Uttarakhand
Karnaprayag is one of the five sacred confluences (Panch Prayag) of the Alaknanda River in Uttarakhand. It is culturally and religiously significant as a pilgrimage site on the route to Badrinath and other Himalayan shrines. Naturally, the confluence of the Alaknanda and Pindar rivers creates dramatic scenery and an energetic riverscape important to the regional watershed.

Best Time to Visit
April–June and September–November — pleasant weather, clear mountain views and safe road access. Avoid the peak monsoon months (July–August) due to landslide risk and high river flows; winters (December–February) are cold and can bring snow at higher elevations.
Weather Conditions
Mountain climate with cool mornings and evenings. Warm in daytime during summer, heavy rains in monsoon, cold winters with occasional snowfall in higher surrounding areas.
Entry Fees & Permits
No formal entry fee to visit the confluence or public ghats. Temples and shrines typically open early morning until evening (timings vary by shrine). Small donations are customary for temple upkeep. Check local notices for any special closures or events.
Accessibility
Accessible by road on the national and state highway network that links to Rishikesh/Dehradun and other Garhwal towns. Regular state buses, private buses and shared taxis operate to Karnaprayag from Rishikesh, Srinagar (Garhwal), and nearby hubs. Nearest major airport: Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun) — approximately a few hours' drive (road distance ~150–200 km depending on route). Nearest major railheads: Rishikesh/Haridwar or Kathgodam — reach by road from there.
Recommended Duration
A short visit of 2–4 hours is enough to see the confluence and nearby temples; plan 1–2 days to explore the town, nearby viewpoints and short treks, or longer if using Karnaprayag as a trekking/pilgrimage base.
