Arrival, Transfer to Almora & Evening Market Walk
Arrive at Kathgodam / Haldwani (railway station or nearest transfer point) in the morning. Drive to Almora (approx. 3–4 hours) through scenic hill roads with your private transfer. Check-in at the hotel and relax. In the late afternoon, take a gentle walk to Almora Market and Zero Point for sunset views over the Himalayan range. Evening cultural talk about Kumaoni traditions at the hotel or a nearby community center.
Tip: Keep a light jacket handy — hill evenings are cool. Pickup times are flexible but aim to arrive by mid-day for a relaxed first day.
Almora: Temples, Handicrafts & Hillwalk
After breakfast, explore Katarmal Sun Temple, an exquisite 9th-century temple complex showcasing Kumaoni architecture. Return towards Almora visiting the spiritually charged Kasar Devi Temple perched on a ridge with panoramic vistas.
In the afternoon, visit local artisan workshops to see Kumaoni handicrafts — wood carving, wool leno shawls and local pottery. Enjoy an easy guided hillwalk through pine and rhododendron trails around Almora, perfect for families and seniors.
Note: Katarmal has some steps — wear comfortable shoes. Photography is great at both temple sites during morning or late afternoon light.
Drive to Kausani via Binsar: Himalayan Viewpoints & Tea Gardens
After breakfast, drive to Binsar (short stop) for a light walk in Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary and enjoy viewpoints overlooking snow-clad peaks. Continue to Kausani, famed for its panoramic Himalayan vistas and tea gardens. Check in and relax.
Evening at leisure with a memorable sunset view of Nanda Devi and the peaks from the Kausani viewpoint. Visit Anasakti Ashram (Gandhi Ashram) if time permits.
Family-friendly: the day includes short walks and ample rest stops. Altitude changes are mild.
Ranikhet: Orchards, Temples & Leisurely Walks
Depart Kausani after breakfast and drive to Ranikhet, an elegant hill station with colonial charm. En route or after arrival visit Chaubatia Gardens (apple orchards and floral gardens) and Jhula Devi Temple — a popular local shrine.
Spend the afternoon exploring quiet lanes, local markets and small handicraft shops. Enjoy an optional short hillwalk to a nearby viewpoint for sunset.
Tip: Try seasonal local snacks and buy handwoven shawls — bargaining is common but polite.
Departure: Morning Stroll & Transfer to Kathgodam
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and an optional short morning stroll in Ranikhet. After checkout, drive back to Kathgodam / Haldwani for onward train/flight connections. Drop at the station/airport and bid farewell to the Kumaon hills.
Important: Confirm your onward travel timings in advance. Standard package drop-off is Kathgodam; airport transfers to Pantnagar can be arranged at an extra cost.
