Nelong Valley is a high-altitude Himalayan valley in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, India, located in the Greater Himalaya near the Tibet (China) border. It is part of the Gangotri National Park and is of high ecological significance due to its pristine alpine ecosystems, rare flora and fauna, and glacial-fed river systems. Best Time to Visit
Late May to mid-October is the typical window when passes and approaches are relatively free of heavy snow; July-August monsoon brings higher precipitation and possible landslides, while autumn (September-October) offers clearer skies.

High-altitude alpine climate: very cold winters with heavy snow (area closed/impassable in winter), cool to mild summers with large diurnal temperature variations; nights can be freezing even in summer.
