Accessibility
Access is by multi-day trekking only from Gaurikund/Kedarnath side or alternative high-altitude approaches. Typical approach: Gaurikund → Sonprayag → Kedarnath (or bypass) → trek towards Chorabari glacier area and onward to Vasuki Tal. Nearest major town: Rudraprayag/Phata/Kedarnath region. Nearest airport: Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun) (~230–250 km by road plus trek). Nearest railhead: Rishikesh/Haridwar (then road). Trekking is strenuous and requires acclimatization; guides and porters are recommended. Landslides, weather and trail conditions can affect access.
Recommended Duration
2–4 days for the trail section specifically to/from Vasuki Tal depending on route and acclimatization; include additional days for travel to/from base (Gaurikund/Kedarnath). Many trekkers combine it with the Kedarnath/Chorabari circuit.
