Seychelles visa & passport guide
Everything Indian passport holders need to visit Seychelles — visa type, fees, processing time, documents, and the step-by-step application process.
Seychelles Visa for Indian Passport Holders
Seychelles is visa-free for Indian passport holders, but you cannot board a flight without an approved Travel Authorisation obtained online before departure. Once approved, immigration at Mahe grants a Visitor's Permit for up to 30 days, extendable in-country. You must show confirmed accommodation, a return or onward ticket and proof of funds.
Visa Type
Visa-free entry with mandatory pre-travel Electronic Travel Authorisation (Visitor's Permit issued on arrival)
Visa Fee
Travel Authorisation approx EUR 10-15 per person (roughly ₹950-1,400), paid by card on the official portal. No separate visa fee on arrival.
Processing Time
Usually approved within 24 hours; apply at least 3-4 days before departure. Applications are accepted only within 30 days of your travel date.
Stay Duration
Up to 30 days on the initial Visitor's Permit, extendable in Seychelles up to 3 months at a time (maximum 12 months)
Passport Validity
Passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay; airlines and immigration commonly expect 6 months validity and at least 2 blank pages
Documents Required
- Passport bio-page scan (clear colour copy)
- Confirmed return or onward air ticket
- Confirmed hotel, guesthouse or self-catering booking for every night of the stay (Seychelles licensed accommodation only)
- Travel insurance covering medical expenses for the trip
- Proof of sufficient funds, typically bank statements or credit card limit (budget roughly USD 150 per day)
- Valid email ID and a card for the online Travel Authorisation payment
How to Apply
- 1Book flights and Seychelles-licensed accommodation first, since booking references are needed in the form.
- 2Go to the official Seychelles Travel Authorisation portal (seychelles.govtas.com) within 30 days of your travel date and fill the form for each traveller, including infants.
- 3Upload the passport bio-page, accommodation confirmation, return ticket and insurance document.
- 4Pay the fee online by debit or credit card and save the payment receipt.
- 5Wait for the approval email with the Travel Authorisation, then print a copy and keep a soft copy on your phone.
- 6Show the approval, passport, tickets and hotel voucher at check-in and at Mahe immigration, where the Visitor's Permit is stamped.
Good to Know
- Airlines at Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru check the Travel Authorisation at check-in. Without it you will be offloaded, so do not leave it for the airport.
- Every night of your stay must be covered by a licensed property. If you are island-hopping to Praslin and La Digue, upload all bookings, not just the first hotel.
- Immigration officers routinely ask where you are staying, for how long and who is paying. Keep the vouchers handy and answer consistently with what you filed online.
- Seychelles has no direct daily flight from India at all times. Common routings are via Dubai, Doha, Addis Ababa, Nairobi or Colombo, and connections add 5-8 hours.
- Currency is the Seychellois Rupee, but hotels and tour operators quote in EUR or USD. Carry a card for the ferry booking to Praslin and La Digue, which costs around EUR 55-70 one way.
- Best weather is April-May and October-November, between the two monsoon wind seasons. December to February is wetter and January sees the heaviest rain.
- Alcohol, cigarettes and food items are checked strictly at Mahe airport. Do not carry seeds, plants or agricultural produce.
- If you want to extend beyond 30 days, apply at the Immigration Division in Victoria before your permit expires; do not overstay.
