Guides & porters: hire experienced local guide and porter for navigation and safety at altitude
Weather: be prepared for rapid weather changes, cold nights and possible snow at higher elevations

Hydration & nutrition: drink regularly to help acclimatise; carry high-energy snacks.
Sun protection: high-altitude UV is strong — bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat.
Local culture: respect local customs in Yuksom and nearby villages; remove shoes when requested.
Book permits and transport in advance during peak season (Mar–May, Sep–Nov).
Travel insurance: ensure it covers high-altitude trekking (up to ~4,200–4,500 m).
Altitude pacing: ascend slowly, avoid alcohol on trek days, and communicate any symptoms immediately to your guide.
