Nearest airport: Bagdogra (Siliguri) ~140–160 km. Nearest major railhead: New Jalpaiguri (NJP) ~140–150 km. Road access via Gangtok → Lachung (shared taxi/ tourist cab) and a 25–30 km drive from Lachung to Yumthang on mountain roads – often organized as a day trip. Road conditions can be narrow, steep and affected by landslides or snow; a local permit is required for North Sikkim.

Recommended Duration

Allow 1 full day in Yumthang (often a day trip from Lachung) plus travel time to/from Lachung; plan 2–3 days for travel from Gangtok including accommodation acclimatization.
