Safety Requirements
Wear sturdy, closed-toe water shoes or sandals with grip; slippery rocks are common.
Expect very cold water — risk of cold shock; avoid long immersion if unprepared.
Do not enter during or immediately after heavy rain due to flash-flood risk.
Children should be closely supervised; the gorge has steep drops and strong currents in parts.
Bring a waterproof bag for electronics; use caution photographing in narrow sections.
Tips
Bring quick-dry clothes, a lightweight waterproof layer, and a towel or change of clothes.
Water shoes or neoprene socks improve comfort; many locals rent them at the entrance.
Arrive early (08:30–10:00) to avoid crowds and the midday heat in summer.
Carry small change in local currency for entrance, lockers, food and rentals (card acceptance can be limited).
Hire a licensed local guide if you plan to go deeper into the canyon beyond the main tourist section.
Check weather forecasts and ask staff about river conditions before entering.
Combine with a visit to nearby Ölüdeniz or the Saklıkent Plateau for a full-day excursion from Fethiye.
