Arrival, Orientation & Trabzon Highlights
Arrival at Trabzon Airport and transfer to your hotel. After check-in, enjoy a relaxed orientation walk and discover the city's coastal charm. Visit the Atatürk Mansion for panoramic views, stroll through the Trabzon Bazaar and taste local Black Sea appetizers. Evening welcome dinner featuring regional cuisine.
Tip: If arriving early, a short walk along the coastal promenade is a gentle introduction to the region.
Sumela Monastery & Transfer to Uzungöl
Drive into lush mountains to Altındere Valley National Park and visit the iconic Sumela Monastery (built into the cliff). Enjoy light walking on forested trails and photography stops. Continue to the enchanting lakeside village of Uzungöl for late afternoon arrival and a peaceful lakeside stroll.
Important: Some walking on uneven paths is required to reach Sumela. Comfortable shoes recommended.
Uzungöl Morning & Fırtına Valley to Ayder Plateau
Morning boardwalk stroll around Uzungöl; free time for photos and local tea. Drive along scenic mountain roads into Fırtına Valley — stop at viewpoints and small waterfalls. Arrive at Ayder Plateau in the afternoon: explore traditional wooden homes, mountain streams and easy meadow walks.
Optional: Family-friendly short hikes or a gentle village walk to meet local villagers.
Ayder Exploration & Rize Tea Plantation Experience
Morning exploration of Ayder — enjoy panoramic viewpoints and a light mountain hike. Travel to Rize in the afternoon for an immersive tea plantation tour. Visit a working tea garden, learn about tea processing and enjoy an authentic tea-tasting session with local hosts.
Note: This is a highlight for families — children can see how tea is grown and sample local snacks.
Borçka Karagöl & Camili Biosphere Wildlife Visit
Full day excursion toward the Artvin region with a visit to Borçka Karagöl — a serene mountain lake surrounded by dense forest. Continue to the Camili Biosphere Reserve for wildlife spotting, birdwatching and short nature walks among endemic flora. Return to the Borçka/Artvin area for an overnight stay.
Tip: Early mornings are best for birdwatching; bring binoculars and a light jacket.
Return to Trabzon & Departure
Morning transfer back toward Trabzon. En route stop for scenic viewpoints and last-minute shopping for local products (tea, honey, traditional handicrafts). Arrive at Trabzon Airport for departure.
