Front Beach (Bai Truoc),Vietnam

Bãi Trước (Front Beach) in Vũng Tàu is the city’s central waterfront and has long been a coastal gateway and leisure promenade for residents of southern Vietnam. The bay area played a role as a colonial-era resort and port, hosting French villas and seafaring commerce. Today it is important as a cultural meeting place, an access point for maritime travel, and a seaside urban ecosystem linking coral-fringed nearshore waters, rock outcrops and a busy fishing economy.

Places to visit

  • Bãi Trước (Front Beach) promenade — short sandy stretch along the city center
  • Vũng Tàu Lighthouse (Ngọn Hải Đăng) — panoramic viewpoints on the hill
  • Dinh Cô (Whale Temple) — cultural and religious site honoring the sea
  • Christ of Vũng Tàu (giant Jesus statue on the hill) — visible from the shore and a short hike away
  • Waterfront cafés, seafood restaurants and weekend markets
  • Ferry pier and harbor area — arrival point for boats and hydrofoils

Unique Aspects

  • Wide coastal promenade ideal for walking and cycling
  • Excellent sunset and bay views over the South China Sea
  • Mix of colonial architecture and modern seaside amenities
  • Calmer waters near the city center compared with the longer Back Beach

  • Sampling fresh seafood at shoreline restaurants
  • Short hikes to nearby hills (lighthouse, Christ statue) for panoramic views
