Sajjangarh (Monsoon Palace) viewpoint
Perched on a hilltop in the Aravalli range overlooking Udaipur, the Sajjangarh (Monsoon Palace) viewpoint is a late-19th-century palatial structure offering sweeping panoramic views of Lake Pichola, the city’s lakes, palaces and surrounding hills. Safety Requirements
Wear sturdy footwear — paths and steps can be uneven
Watch edges and respect barriers — viewpoint parapets can be low in places
During monsoon, surfaces get slippery — move cautiously and avoid wet rock edges
Carry sufficient water and sun protection (hat, sunscreen) especially in hot months
Limited lighting after sunset — arrange transport in advance and avoid hiking alone at night
Observe sanctuary rules — do not feed or disturb wildlife; maintain distance from animals
Tips
Arrive at least 45–60 minutes before sunset for the best spot and changing light
Bring a DSLR or phone with good low-light capability for sunset shots; a small tripod or stable surface helps
If visiting in monsoon, carry a light rain jacket and wear non-slip shoes
Combine the visit with Fateh Sagar Lake, City Palace or the Vintage Car Museum for a full-day Udaipur experience
Carry cash for small entry or camera fees — gate counters may not accept all cards
Hire a local guide or ask guards for quick history notes if you want context — signage on site is limited
Avoid weekend evenings if you prefer fewer crowds; weekdays are generally quieter
Check opening hours and entry fee updates before travel — seasonal timings or conservation closures sometimes apply
