Follow skipper’s instructions when boarding and moving around the boat
Keep belongings secured to prevent loss overboard
Avoid leaning over the edge or standing in small boats during movement
Children should be supervised at all times
Tips
Book in advance during peak season (Oct–Mar) and major festivals
For the best sunset photos sit on the western-facing side of the boat—Ambrai Ghat departures are popular
Negotiate price for private boats before boarding and confirm any extras (refreshments, extra stops)
Carry a light shawl or jacket — lakeside evenings can be breezy
Bring a small LED light or torch for walking at night after disembarkation
If you prefer quieter rides, choose weekday evenings or early shoulder-season dates
If you want commentary, hire a boat with a guide or ask the boatman for local stories
Respect local customs — avoid loud music or excessive drinking on shared boats
