Best Time to Visit
October to March — cooler days and cold nights; ideal for camping, safaris and festivals. Summers (April–June) are very hot and not recommended for prolonged stays.

Sam Sand Dunes are located about 40–45 km east of Jaisalmer city (drive ~1–1.5 hours). Nearest transport hubs: Jaisalmer Railway Station (closest railhead) and Jaisalmer Airport (limited domestic flights). The nearest major airport with more connections is Jodhpur (~250–300 km by road). Access: private car, taxi, or organised tours from Jaisalmer; local buses or shared jeeps operate but are less convenient for timing sunrise/sunset visits.
Recommended Duration
1–2 nights recommended — day trips are possible from Jaisalmer but an overnight stay lets you experience sunset, stargazing and sunrise.
