Itinerary
Arrival, transfer to Ponmudi & sunset viewpoint
Arrive at Thiruvananthapuram Airport/Railway Station and meet your representative for a scenic drive to Ponmudi (approx. 1.5–2.5 hours depending on traffic). Check in to your mountain lodge or eco-resort and relax. In late afternoon, take a short drive to a nearby viewpoint for stunning sunset views over the Western Ghats. Enjoy a welcome dinner featuring Kerala flavors.
Tip: If arriving early, you can include a quick visit to Vithura for local snacks before reaching Ponmudi.
Waterfalls & Kallar river walk
After breakfast, set out on a guided nature walk to explore the waterfalls near Ponmudi (commonly referred to as Meenmutty and smaller cascades in the area) and the scenic Kallar River. Spend time at safe bathing spots and natural pools (season & local rules permitting). Enjoy a picnic lunch on the riverside or return to the resort for a hot meal.
Evening at leisure — stroll the resort's tea garden or attend a short presentation on local flora and fauna.
Important: Swimming is only recommended at designated safe spots and when local authorities deem it safe.
Guided Ponmudi trek, tea gardens & photo stops
Today is dedicated to the signature Ponmudi trek — an easy-to-moderate guided trail through rolling hills, endemic shola forests and expansive tea gardens. Stop at panoramic points for views across the valleys and photo opportunities. Visit a working tea estate to learn about tea processing and enjoy fresh local tea as part of a tea plantation tour and KDHP Tea Museum experience.
Late afternoon, return to the resort for relaxation. Option for a short village walk to experience local culture and cuisine.
Wear comfortable trekking shoes, carry water, and expect uneven trails.
Sunrise viewpoint, check-out & drop at Trivandrum
Rise early for a spectacular sunrise at a Ponmudi viewpoint (subject to weather). After breakfast, check out and begin the drive back to Thiruvananthapuram. En route you may visit a scenic stop or a local market for souvenirs. Drop at the airport or railway station for your onward journey.
If you prefer, an additional city sightseeing extension in Thiruvananthapuram can be arranged (extra cost).
