Itinerary
Arrival at Kochi and Transfer to Munnar
Arrive at Cochin International Airport (Kochi) and meet your representative. Drive to Munnar (approx. 4–5 hours) through scenic Western Ghats with stops for photos and refreshments. Check in to the hotel and unwind. Evening at leisure — enjoy a gentle walk through the nearby tea gardens or the local market.
Note: If you have an early arrival, consider a brief stop at the Ettumanoor Temple or roadside spice shops en route.
Munnar Sightseeing: Eravikulam, Mattupetty & Tea Museum
Full day exploring Munnar's highlights. Visit Eravikulam National Park (home to the Nilgiri tahr) — enjoy panoramic views from Rajamalai. Continue to Mattupetty Dam with boating (optional), Echo Point, and Kundala Lake. In the afternoon, visit the Tea Museum and take a guided walk through manicured tea estates with a tea plantation tour and KDHP Tea Museum experience.
Important: Eravikulam may be closed during certain months for conservation — plan accordingly.
Transfer to Thekkady via Spice Plantation
After breakfast, check out and drive to Thekkady (Periyar) (approx. 3–4 hours). En route visit a local spice plantation to learn about pepper, cardamom and other spices — tasting included. Arrive at Thekkady, check in to the hotel, and enjoy the evening at leisure. Option to watch a cultural performance like Kalaripayattu or Kathakali in the evening (optional).
Tip: Carry light walking shoes for the plantation walk and bring a light jacket for the hill climate.
Periyar Wildlife Boat Cruise & Nature Activities
Start early with a boat cruise on Periyar Lake inside Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary — excellent for wildlife and bird sightings (elephants, sambar, langurs, and many bird species). After the cruise, take an optional guided nature walk or bamboo rafting depending on season and availability. Afternoon visit to a local spice garden and leisure time at the hotel.
Important: Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Carry binoculars and insect repellent.
Drive to Alleppey & Board Traditional Houseboat
After breakfast, drive to Alleppey (Alappuzha) (approx. 4–5 hours). Board your private or shared traditional Kerala houseboat (kettuvallam) by noon. Cruise through the serene backwaters, glide past paddy fields, coconut groves, and small village hamlets on a backwater houseboat cruise on Vembanad Lake. Fresh regional lunch, evening tea and a peaceful sunset on the backwaters. Overnight stay and dinner on board.
Note: Houseboat itinerary depends on tides and lock timings.
Disembark Houseboat and Transfer to Kochi — Fort Kochi Walk
Disembark houseboat after breakfast. Drive to Kochi (approx. 1.5–2 hours). Explore historic Fort Kochi: Chinese Fishing Nets, St. Francis Church, Dutch Palace (Mattancherry Palace), and the Jewish Synagogue in Mattancherry. Enjoy street-side cafes and local art galleries. Evening free for shopping or an optional Kathakali performance.
Tip: Fort Kochi has several pedestrian-friendly lanes; comfortable walking shoes recommended.
Departure from Kochi
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and transfer to Cochin International Airport or Kochi railway station for onward journey. If time permits, enjoy a short last-minute city drive or shopping trip.
Important: Standard check-out is by 11:00 AM. Please inform us of your flight/train timing so we can plan your transfer accordingly.

They Sorted a Hotel Crisis Mid-Trip
We were two days into our Kerala trip with my husband when the houseboat booking got cancelled last minute — something to do with the operator. I panicked and called our TourGrids coordinator Ravi around 9 PM. He picked up immediately, found us an alternate houseboat in Alleppey, and had the confirmation in my WhatsApp within the hour. Same price, no extra charges, honestly a better boat than the original. The rest of the trip — Munnar, Kovalam, the whole itinerary — went completely smooth. Hotels were proper good, cabs were always on time. What I appreciated most is that someone actually answered when it mattered.
