Itinerary
Arrival in Gangtok and Evening at Leisure
Arrival at Bagdogra Airport / NJP Railway Station and transfer to Gangtok (approx 4-5 hours). Check-in and time to rest and acclimatize. Later, enjoy a relaxed evening walk at MG Marg and explore local shops and cafes.
Important: Keep warm clothing handy and drink water to acclimatize. Evening prayers or a visit to a nearby local shrine can be arranged on request.
Gangtok: Enchey Monastery, Namgyal Institute & Do Drul Chorten
Full day of spiritual and cultural sightseeing in and around Gangtok. Begin with the hilltop Enchey Monastery, known for its peaceful ambiance and ritual dances. Visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology to explore Tibetan artifacts and manuscripts, followed by Do Drul Chorten (stupa) and the nearby Tashi Viewpoint for panoramic vistas.
Tip: Morning visits offer softer light for photography and quieter prayer sessions.
Rumtek Monastery and Spiritual Immersion
After breakfast, drive to Rumtek Monastery — the seat of His Holiness the Gyalwa Karmapa in Sikkim and a major center for the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. Spend time attending prayer sessions, viewing intricate murals, and learning about monastic life. Afternoon free for optional visits to Banjhakri Falls or local markets.

Transfer to Pelling via Khecheopalri Lake — Evening at Pemayangtse
Drive from Gangtok to Pelling (approx 4-5 hours) with scenic stops en route. Visit the sacred Khecheopalri Lake (a revered wish-fulfilling lake) and optional short stop at Ravangla viewpoint. Arrive Pelling, check-in and in the late afternoon visit Pemayangtse Monastery (timings permitting) for a peaceful evening prayer.
Note: Road stretches are hilly; travel time varies with weather. Carry light snacks and water.
Pelling Heritage Trail & Departure
Early morning visit for breathtaking sunrise views of Mount Kanchenjunga (weather permitting). Explore the Pemayangtse Monastery more deeply if not done previous day, visit ancient Rabdentse Ruins, Sanga Choeling Monastery, and the dramatic Singshore Bridge. After lunch, depart for Bagdogra Airport / NJP Railway Station for onward journey.
Important: Flight/train timings will determine the pace of the day. Allow adequate buffer for mountain traffic.
