Itinerary
Arrival, Transfer to Nainital & Lakeside Orientation
Arrive at Kathgodam Railway Station / Pantnagar Airport and transfer (approx. 1.5–2 hrs) to Nainital. Check in to your family-friendly hotel and relax. Afternoon orientation walk along Naini Lake and Mall Road — a gentle introduction to the town with opportunities for boating and sampling street snacks. Evening at leisure with an optional lakeside stroll and a chance to try local sweets.
Important: Arrival time after 12:00 PM recommended for a smooth check-in. Early arrivals can use hotel luggage hold and explore nearby markets.
Kumaoni Food Trail: Market Walk & Local Flavors
A full day dedicated to the Kumaoni culinary experience. With a local food guide, explore Nainital's morning market and street-food lanes. Taste signature dishes such as Aloo ke Gutke, Bhatt ki Dal, and regional sweets like Bal Mithai (originating from nearby Almora). Visit specialty stalls, a small spice vendor, and traditional tea shops.
Afternoon free for boat rides or a short nature walk to Tiffin Top (Dorothy's Seat) for panoramic views. Evening includes a curated tasting platter at a popular local eatery.
Note: The trail includes small tastings at several stops—perfect for families to sample a variety without large meals at each stop.
Transfer to Almora, Heritage Walk & Evening Cooking Demo
After breakfast, drive to Almora (approx. 2–2.5 hrs) — a town known for its culture and scenic market lanes. Check in and enjoy a guided heritage walk through the old bazaar, visiting viewpoints and local craft shops.
Late afternoon, participate in a hands-on cooking demonstration with a local Kumaoni family: learn to prepare a traditional Kumaoni thali and regional dishes (vegetarian options available). Enjoy the meal you helped prepare and chat with hosts about local customs and food history.
Tip: Inform us of dietary restrictions in advance so the cooking demo can be tailored.
Ranikhet Excursion: Markets, Temples & Village Flavors
Drive to Ranikhet (approx. 1–1.5 hrs) after breakfast. Explore the serene hill-station vibe with visits to Jhula Devi Temple, Chaubatia Gardens (optional), and local tea stalls. Enjoy a guided walk through Ranikhet’s charming markets focusing on pickles, local preserves, and traditional Kumaoni snacks.

Morning Market Visit & Departure
