Itinerary
Arrival & Fort Kochi Orientation
Arrive at Cochin International Airport (or Ernakulam railway station) and transfer to your hotel in Fort Kochi. Spend the afternoon on a guided orientation walk through the Fort Kochi and Mattancherry precincts: view the Chinese fishing nets, St. Francis Church, Dutch Palace (Mattancherry Palace) and the historic Jew Town lanes. Enjoy a relaxed evening at a café overlooking the harbor.
Included: airport transfer, guided Fort Kochi walking tour.
Spice Market, Antique Shopping & Kathakali Workshop
Morning visit to the bustling Mattancherry Spice Market—learn about pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and other Kerala spices. Explore antiques shops in Jew Town and time for leisurely lunch at a local family-run restaurant. In the late afternoon, attend a Kathakali makeup demonstration followed by a hands-on mini-workshop where you can try traditional face paint and learn key expressions (rasas). Finish with an evening Kathakali performance—a classical storytelling dance unique to Kerala.
Family-friendly timing: the workshop is suitable for older children; younger children can enjoy a simplified viewing.
Backstreets, Local Life & Art Cafés
Delve into the quieter side of Kochi with a guided exploration of Fort Kochi’s backstreets—street art, colonial facades, boutique shops and hidden cafés. Optional activities include a short cycle-rickshaw ride, cooking demonstration at a local home (subject to availability), or visiting the Kerala Folklore Museum / Local art galleries. Evening at leisure to stroll by the waterfront or watch a sunset by the sea.
Tip: early morning or late afternoon are best for photography and cooler temperatures.
Drive to Alleppey & Overnight Houseboat
After breakfast, transfer to Alleppey (Alappuzha) to board your traditional kettuvallam (houseboat). Settle into your cabin and cruise through palm-fringed canals, rice paddies and small village hamlets. Enjoy freshly prepared Kerala cuisine on board—lunch, evening tea and dinner included. Overnight on the houseboat, lulled by the gentle sounds of the backwaters.
Note: Houseboat cabins are comfortable for families; inform us of any mobility needs so we can arrange suitable boarding assistance.
Village Walk, Return to Kochi & Departure
Disembark after breakfast for a short guided village walk to experience local life—coir-making, paddy fields and canal-side activities. Transfer back to Kochi for last-minute shopping or direct transfer to Cochin International Airport / Ernakulam station for your onward journey.
If you have a late flight, consider extending your stay or requesting a late checkout (subject to availability).
