Cameron Highlands Tea Plantation and Strawberry Farm Tour
Cameron Highlands in Pahang sits at around 1,500 metres and stays between 15°C and 25°C through the year, which makes it Malaysia's best-known hill station and a favourite escape for Indian travellers who want sweaters and mist rather than beaches. The drive from Kuala Lumpur takes about four hours via Tapah or Simpang Pulai.
The standard circuit covers the BOH Sungei Palas Tea Estate, where a walkway over the tea slopes leads to a factory tour and a cafe serving BOH tea with scones. Add on the Mossy Forest at Gunung Brinchang, a strawberry farm where you can pick your own, the Cactus Valley, a butterfly farm and the Big Red Strawberry Farm. Many Indian groups also stop at the Sam Poh Temple in Brinchang and the local honey bee farms.
Brinchang and Tanah Rata are the two towns where most hotels are located, and Tanah Rata's night market on weekends sells corn, sweet potato and steamboat dinners. Indian food is easy to find here, with several South Indian and Muslim restaurants in Tanah Rata serving roti canai and thali. Two nights is enough to cover the area comfortably.
