Itinerary
Arrive Kuala Lumpur & City Highlights
Land at KLIA and transfer to your hotel in the Bukit Bintang or KLCC area. After freshening up, head out for a half day city tour covering the Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC Park fountains, Merdeka Square, the National Mosque exterior and the King's Palace gates. Continue to Batu Caves, where 272 steps lead past the Lord Murugan statue to the limestone temple cave. Evening free for Jalan Alor street food or shopping at Pavilion. Vegetarian and halal options are everywhere in Bukit Bintang.
Drive to Kuala Besut & Speedboat to Perhentian
Early departure from Kuala Lumpur for the drive across the peninsula to Kuala Besut jetty in Terengganu, roughly seven to eight hours with breaks, or a short flight to Kota Bharu followed by a one hour road transfer. Pay the marine park charge at the jetty and board the speedboat for the 30 to 40 minute crossing to Perhentian Kecil or Besar. Check into your beach chalet, then spend the rest of the day on Long Beach or Teluk Dalam, swimming and watching the sunset. No cars on the island, so movement is by foot and water taxi.
Perhentian Full Day Snorkelling Safari
Full day snorkelling trip by boat around the Perhentian group. Stops usually include Shark Point for blacktip reef sharks, Turtle Point where green turtles graze on seagrass, the coral garden near Tanjung Basi, and Romantic Beach for a swim. Water visibility in the April to September window is generally strong and the sea stays around 29 degrees Celsius. Lunch break on Perhentian Besar. Return by late afternoon for beach time and a barbecue dinner at one of the shoreline restaurants at your own cost.
Free Day on Perhentian
A day with nothing scheduled. Options include a jungle trek across Perhentian Kecil from Long Beach to Coral Bay for the sunset side of the island, kayaking along the bays, a discover scuba dive with a local dive centre, or simply a hammock and a book. Water taxis run between the beaches on request and take about 10 to 15 minutes. Carry cash, as card facilities and ATMs on the islands are limited.
Transfer to Redang Island
Speedboat back to Kuala Besut, then a road transfer to Merang or Shahbandar jetty for the boat across to Redang Island, part of the same marine park. Redang has broader beaches and larger resorts, mostly along Pasir Panjang. Check in, take lunch, and spend the afternoon on the beach or snorkelling straight off the house reef, where parrotfish and clownfish come close to shore. Dinner at the resort as per the half board plan.
Redang Snorkelling & Marine Park
Morning snorkelling trip to the Redang marine park zones, typically the Pulau Lima and Chagar Hutang side reefs, where turtle sightings are common. Back at the resort, the afternoon is free for kayaking, a beach walk to the quieter northern end, or a swim at the pool. Sunset here is on the western side of the island, so ask your resort for the best viewpoint. Evening dinner at the resort and an early night before the return journey.
Return to Mainland & Departure
Morning boat from Redang to the mainland jetty, followed by a transfer to Kuala Terengganu or Kota Bharu airport for your flight to Kuala Lumpur and onward home. If you have a long connection in Kuala Lumpur, use the KLIA Ekspres to reach KL Sentral for a quick city meal or last-minute shopping before your international departure.
