Kuala Lumpur City Tour with KL Tower and Merdeka Square
The standard half-day Kuala Lumpur city tour covers the landmarks that define the capital, and almost every Indian package includes it on the first or last day. The route usually starts at Merdeka Square, where Malaysian independence was declared in 1957, facing the Moorish-style Sultan Abdul Samad Building and the Royal Selangor Club.
From there tours move to the National Mosque and the Islamic Arts Museum area, then the King's Palace gates at Istana Negara for photographs with the mounted guards, and the National Monument. The centrepiece is Menara Kuala Lumpur, the 421-metre KL Tower standing on Bukit Nanas hill. Its observation deck sits at 276 metres and the Sky Deck above has a glass Sky Box that juts out from the building, giving a straight-down view of the city. Because the tower sits on a hill, the skyline view actually frames the Twin Towers better than the towers themselves do.
Most tours end with a stop at a chocolate or pewter factory outlet, then Central Market and Petaling Street in Chinatown for bargaining. Indian travellers find Little India in Brickfields close by, useful for a South Indian meal.
Guides on group tours commonly speak Hindi or Tamil in addition to English; confirm this when booking.
