Kuala Lumpur Shopping and Street Food Evening in Bukit Bintang
Bukit Bintang is Kuala Lumpur's shopping and eating district, and for most Indian travellers it is where two or three evenings of the trip actually go. Pavilion KL anchors the high street brands, Lot 10 and Fahrenheit 88 cover mid-range labels, Starhill Gallery has luxury, and Berjaya Times Square nearby holds hundreds of smaller shops plus an indoor theme park. Sungei Wang Plaza is the place for cheap electronics accessories and bargaining.
The food side is the real draw. Jalan Alor turns into an open-air hawker street after dark, with hundreds of plastic chairs, satay grills, roast duck, grilled seafood and fresh coconut. Around the corner, Lot 10 Hutong gathers well-known Kuala Lumpur hawker stalls in one air-conditioned basement, which is easier for families. Indian travellers who want familiar food will find plenty of options in nearby Brickfields Little India and several vegetarian and Jain-friendly Indian restaurants within a short Grab ride.
Bukit Bintang links to KLCC through a 1.2-kilometre covered air-conditioned walkway, so you can combine an evening at the Twin Towers fountain show with dinner here without a taxi. The Monorail and MRT both serve the area. Malaysia's big sale periods, around March, mid-year in June to August and year-end December, bring genuine discounts.
