Itinerary
Arrival in Shillong & Local Orientation
Arrive at Shillong (Guwahati to Shillong transfer if required). Check in and relax. Afternoon city orientation visiting Police Bazar for local shopping, Ward’s Lake for a relaxed walk, and Don Bosco Museum (optional) to learn about North-East cultures. Evening at leisure with a recommended stroll and local cuisine sampling.
Tip: Keep light layers—Shillong evenings can be cool.
Cherrapunjee (Sohra) Excursion — Waterfalls & Caves
After an early breakfast, drive to Cherrapunjee (Sohra) — one of the wettest places on Earth. Full day exploring: Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls viewpoint, Mawsmai Caves (easy spelunking), and Dainthlen Falls. Visit viewpoints like Arwah Cave and the panoramic Eco Park. Return to Cherrapunjee for the night.
Important: Wear comfortable shoes and carry a light rain jacket — paths can be slippery.
Mawlynnong (Clean Village) & Transfer to Dawki — River Evening
Check out and head to Mawlynnong Village — famed as the cleanest village in Asia. Explore the village, the Living Root Bridges (short walks), and the skywalk for panoramic views. Post-lunch, proceed to Dawki, check in, and enjoy an evening near the Umngot River (famous for its glass-like waters and the wooden Dawki Bridge).
Tip: Carry cash and respect local customs; Mawlynnong has limited ATMs.
Dawki Kayaking & Border Viewpoint, Return to Shillong
Morning dedicated to water-based adventure: guided kayaking on the Umngot River — paddle over crystal-clear waters and observe freshwater fish beneath you. After the kayaking session, visit the India-Bangladesh border viewpoint and local markets. Post-lunch, drive back to Shillong and check in for the final night. Evening free for shopping at Police Bazar or relaxing at a café.
Safety Note: Kayaking will be guided; participants should follow instructor instructions and wear life jackets at all times.
Departure from Shillong
After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning with optional visits to Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak if time allows (depending on flight/train schedule). Transfer to Guwahati or Shillong transport hub for onward journey.
