Arrival & Shillong City Orientation
Arrive in Shillong (Guwahati to Shillong transfer can be arranged). Check in to your hotel and relax. Post-lunch, enjoy a gentle orientation tour of the city visiting Ward's Lake, Don Bosco Museum (time permitting), Elephant Falls and the bustling Police Bazar for shopping and local snacks. Evening at leisure to experience Shillong's café scene.
Tip: Early arrivals can visit Shillong Peak for panoramic views before checking in.
Cherrapunji — Waterfalls, Caves & Viewpoints
After breakfast, drive to Cherrapunji (Sohra) — one of the wettest places on earth. Full-day sightseeing includes Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls (Nohsngithiang), Mawsmai Cave (easy walk inside), Eco Park and the famous Dainthlen/Arwah Viewpoint. Enjoy scenic stops and photo opportunities at viewpoints and living root-fed landscapes. Return to Cherrapunji for overnight stay.
Note: Weather can be unpredictable in Cherrapunji — carry light rainwear and sturdy footwear.
Living Root Bridges Trek or Mawlynnong Village Visit
Choose between an adventurous but family-manageable trek to Nongriat & the Double Decker Living Root Bridge (down ~3500 steps and return via steps or alternate trails; allow 4–6 hours) or a relaxed cultural visit to Mawlynnong Village and the Balancing Rock with picnic options. Both experiences showcase traditional Khasi life and unique natural engineering.
Family-friendly option: If trekking with young children or elders, opt for Mawlynnong and short, scenic walks instead of the full Nongriat descent.
Leisure Morning & Departure
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and a short local walk in Shillong or Cherrapunji depending on your overnight location. Last-minute shopping at Police Bazar or a quick visit to any missed viewpoints.
