Arrival, Transfer to Gangtok & Leisurely Acclimatization
Arrive at Bagdogra Airport / NJP (New Jalpaiguri Station) and enjoy a private transfer to Gangtok (approx. 4–5 hrs). Check in to your luxury hotel and take time to relax and acclimatize. In the evening, short private guided walk around MG Marg for an introduction to local culture, boutique shopping, and Himalayan tea. This gentle first day helps acclimatize to altitude and reduces risk of AMS.
Gangtok Highlights & Private Guided Hike
Full day exploring Gangtok with a private guide. Visit Rumtek Monastery, Tashi Viewpoint for sunrise vistas, Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, and Banjhakri Falls. In the afternoon enjoy a private guided short hike on a curated trail offering Himalayan birdwatching and views of Kanchenjunga from selected vantage points. Evening at leisure in a luxury wellness lodge.
Drive to Lachen via Chungthang — Scenic Mountain Transit
Depart early in a private vehicle, driving through terraced valleys and river gorges to Lachen (scenic stops at Chungthang). En route, brief visits to local viewpoints and guided short walks to explore roadside flora and birdlife. Overnight at a premium mountain lodge with local cuisine and a briefing for high-altitude excursions. Carry warm layers — nights get cold above 2,500 m.
Gurudongmar Lake Excursion or Private High-Altitude Hike
Early morning private drive to Gurudongmar Lake (subject to permit and weather). Experience surreal high-altitude landscapes and panoramic Kanchenjunga views. Optional shorter guided high-altitude hike near the lake for acclimatized guests (provided by expert naturalist guides). Return to Lachen for relaxation and cultural interaction with local communities.
Transfer to Lachung & Yumthang Valley Exploration
Drive to Lachung, passing through alpine meadows and rhododendron forests. Afternoon visit to Yumthang Valley (Flower Valley) and Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary with a private guided hike focusing on endemic flora, Himalayan pheasants, and possible sightings of blue sheep. After morning relaxation or an optional sunrise walk in Lachung, depart for Gangtok. En route stop at scenic viewpoints and small villages; private guide highlights local customs, wildlife signs, and conservation notes about Kanchenjunga National Park. Pelling Transfer, Kanchenjunga Sunrise & Departure Transfer
Early transfer to Pelling to capture iconic sunrise views of Kangchenjunga from viewpoints like Pemayangtse Monastery and the Rabdentse Ruins. Enjoy a private guided nature walk to Khecheopalri Lake (sacred lake with pristine forest surroundings) and short wildlife spotting for Himalayan birds and small mammals.
