Yusmarg,Kashmir
Yusmarg is an alpine meadow and hill station in the Budgam district of Kashmir. It is valued primarily for its natural beauty: wide green meadows, dense pine and fir forests, and tributaries of the Doodh Ganga river that emerge in the area. The site is important as a pastoral grazing ground for local shepherds and supports seasonal biodiversity including migratory birds and native Himalayan flora. Yusmarg also forms part of the network of scenic valleys and pastures in Kashmir that contribute to the region's tourism and rural livelihoods.

The drive includes mountain roads—public transport is limited, so a rented car or taxi is recommended. Some stretches can be narrow and affected by snow or rain.

A day trip (6–8 hours) from Srinagar is common; 1–2 days recommended to relax, camp, or do multiple short treks.
Clothing & Gear Tips
Layered clothing (light warm layers), waterproof jacket, sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots, sun protection (hat/sunscreen), insect repellent, and warm hat/gloves in winter. Carry a small first-aid kit and water.
Local Food & Souvenirs
Local eateries in nearby villages offer simple Kashmiri meals and tea (try Kahwa). Souvenirs to consider include Kashmiri handicrafts, locally carved walnut wood items, and Pashmina or woollen shawls bought from established shops in Srinagar rather than in the meadow to ensure authenticity.
