Petronas Twin Towers, Malaysia
The Petronas Twin Towers, completed in 1998, held the title of world's tallest buildings until 2004 and remain the tallest twin towers on earth at 451.9 metres. Designed by Argentine-American architect Cesar Pelli, the floor plan is based on an eight-pointed Islamic geometric star, tying modern engineering to Malaysia's Muslim identity. The towers house the headquarters of Petronas, the national oil company, and are joined by a double-decker skybridge on the 41st and 42nd floors. For most Indian visitors this is the single defining image of Kuala Lumpur and the anchor of nearly every KL itinerary.
