Itinerary
Arrival in Kochi — Transfer to Munnar
Arrive at Cochin International Airport or Ernakulam Railway Station and meet your driver. Enjoy a scenic drive (approx. 4–5 hours) up to Munnar, a cool hill station famed for its rolling tea gardens. Check into your hotel and relax. In the evening, take a short walk through local tea estates and visit the Munnar town market for souvenirs.
Tip: Carry light woolens — Munnar evenings can be chilly.
Munnar Sightseeing: Tea Gardens & Viewpoints
Full-day sightseeing of Munnar's iconic attractions. Start with Eravikulam National Park (subject to seasonal opening), home to the endemic Nilgiri Tahr with panoramic views from the visitor centre. Continue to Mattupetty Dam for boat rides (optional), Echo Point, and Kundala Lake. Finish at the Tata Tea Museum to learn about tea processing and enjoy tea plantation tour and KDHP Tea Museum tasting.
Important: Eravikulam has limited daily entry; book early to secure permits during peak season.
Munnar: Top Station & Local Exploration
Morning drive to Top Station for sunrise or sweeping views over the Western Ghats and the vast tea terraces. Explore lesser-known trails and enjoy panoramic photography opportunities. Afternoon free for leisure — optional activities include a visit to Blossom Hydel Park, a short nature walk, or a visit to local spice shops.
Family tip: Top Station roads can be winding; leave early to avoid clouds and enjoy clear views.
Scenic Drive to Thekkady (Periyar) & Spice Plantation Visit
Depart Munnar after breakfast for Thekkady (Periyar), a beautiful drive through tea and spice country. On arrival, take a guided tour of a spice plantation to learn about pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and clove. In the evening, enjoy a short cultural performance (Kathakali or Kalaripayattu demonstrations available locally).
Note: Wear comfortable shoes for plantation walks and bring sunscreen.
Periyar Wildlife Boat Safari & Transfer to Alleppey
Early morning boat safari on Periyar Lake in Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, prime time for wildlife sightings including elephants, deer and a variety of birds. Return to hotel for breakfast and check out. Drive downhill towards Alleppey, a scenic 4–5 hour journey descending to the coastal plains. On arrival, check into your traditional Kettuvallam (houseboat) and start your backwater houseboat cruise on Vembanad Lake at sunset.
Important: Keep valuables secure during the cruise; mobile connectivity may be patchy in backwater stretches.
Houseboat Cruise & Departure
Wake up to the tranquil backwaters and enjoy freshly prepared Kerala breakfast on board. The houseboat continues cruising through narrow canals, paddy fields, coconut groves, and local villages — a perfect opportunity for relaxed photography and experiencing rural life. Disembark by late morning and transfer to Kochi for onward journey or airport connection.
Departure note: If you have a late flight, consider a short stop at Marari Beach (optional) for some beach time before transfer.

Recent Kerala Reviews
Kerala Houseboat Rebooked While We Were Still Upset
We had confirmed a houseboat stay in Alleppey for our anniversary, and two days before, the operator cancelled without warning. My wife was really disappointed — this was the one thing she had been looking forward to the whole trip. I called our coordinator at TourGrids around 9 PM expecting to hear 'we'll try', but by next morning he had a replacement houseboat booked, same stretch, actually better reviews than the original. No extra charge, no back and forth. Rest of the Kerala itinerary — Munnar, Fort Kochi, the drives — everything ran exactly as planned. Hotels were proper good, cabs were always on time. This was our first time booking through a travel company and honestly it removed so much weight from the trip.
Kerala Took Shape Before I Touched a Browser
I was planning a Kerala trip for my wife and me and honestly had no idea where to start — backwaters, hill stations, beaches, it felt overwhelming. A friend suggested TourGrids, so I dropped them a message on WhatsApp. Within the hour, someone from their team called and just asked us what kind of trip we wanted. No sales pitch, proper conversation. Two calls later, the itinerary was ready — Munnar, Alleppey houseboat, Kovalam, all sequenced properly with cab transfers included. They adjusted the houseboat night when I asked, no fuss. Hotels were proper good, no hidden charges at the end. Planning something this detailed usually stresses me out, but this time it genuinely did not.
Kerala Hotels and Cabs Left Nothing to Complain
Travelled to Kerala with my wife last month and honestly the accommodations TourGrids arranged were the highlight. We stayed at a proper resort in Munnar and a lovely heritage property in Alleppey — both were well above what I'd have found on my own at that budget. No compromise on cleanliness or location. The cab transfers were equally solid — same driver for most legs, always on time, comfortable vehicle. No last-minute confusion about pickups or drop timings. Our coordinator Priya had everything pre-confirmed and shared details on WhatsApp the night before each transfer. We just had to show up. For a couple wanting a relaxed Kerala trip without the usual booking chaos, this worked out really well.
Kerala With a Stranger I Ended Up Trusting
First time booking through a travel company — I'd always planned trips myself because I didn't trust anyone with my money or my holiday. A colleague suggested TourGrids, so I got on a call with them before committing anything. They listened properly, no upselling, just asked what my wife and I actually wanted from Kerala. The itinerary they sent back felt personal — Alleppey, Munnar, the right balance of relaxed and packed. Hotels were proper good, cabs were always on time, and no hidden charges when we settled the final bill. The coordinator was reachable throughout, even when we had a small room query at night. Took one trip to change how I travel.
Kerala Houseboat Date Changed, Nobody Panicked But Them
Two days before our Alleppey houseboat stay, my husband realised he'd mixed up the dates on his leave — we needed to shift everything by one day. I was sure it was going to be a mess. Called our TourGrids coordinator around 8 PM, fully expecting bad news. He checked availability, spoke to the property, and had it sorted within the hour. Hotel in Munnar also got adjusted without any fuss. No extra charges were added without explanation, and he kept us updated through WhatsApp the whole time. Rest of the Kerala trip went exactly as planned — backwaters, spice gardens, the works. Genuinely relieved we didn't try to plan this ourselves.
Kerala Resorts and Cabs Both Felt Premium
We did Kerala as a couple trip last month and honestly the properties TourGrids picked were a cut above what I'd found on my own. The resort in Munnar had a valley view I wasn't even expecting, and the houseboat in Alleppey was proper good — clean, well-maintained, not the budget kind. What also stood out was how clean the cab arrangements were. Driver was always on time, car was comfortable, no confusion about pickups between destinations. Our coordinator Priya sorted everything before we even had to ask twice. No surprise charges at checkout, no last-minute scrambling. Kerala trips can get complicated with multiple transfers — this one just didn't feel that way.
