Itinerary
Arrival, Transfer to Houseboat/Hotel & Evening Shikara
Arrive at Srinagar Airport (Sheikh ul-Alam). Meet and assist, then transfer to your lakefront houseboat or hotel. Freshen up and relax. In the evening enjoy a tranquil Shikara ride on Dal Lake watching the sunset and floating gardens. This gentle ride is perfect to unwind after travel and introduces you to Kashmir’s iconic waterway.
Tip: Select a houseboat with lake-facing verandah for best views.
Mughal Gardens & Hazratbal Shrine
After breakfast, visit the elegant Mughal Gardens — Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh, and Chashme Shahi — showcasing terraced lawns, fountains and Himalayan views. Continue to Hazratbal Shrine on the lakeshore and explore local crafts at the nearby markets. Evening at leisure with an optional walk through the Lal Chowk area and a taste of local street snacks.
Special note: Mughal Gardens bloom differently across seasons; spring and early summer are the best times for floral displays.
Srinagar Old City & Local Food Walk
Spend the day exploring Srinagar’s Old City. Visit Jamia Masjid, stroll through the bustling bazaar, and stop at local shops selling pashmina, papier-mâché and spices. Join a guided local food walk to sample Kashmiri specialties — Rogan Josh, Dum Aloo, Kehwa, and festive Wazwan tasters. Evening free for a relaxed lakeside dinner.
Tip: Try Kahwa after your meal to aid digestion and warm up on cool evenings.
Day Excursion to Gulmarg — Gondola & Meadows
Full-day excursion to Gulmarg (approx. 1.5–2 hours drive). In Gulmarg enjoy panoramic meadows, a hilltop walk and the famous Gondola ride (Phase 1 & optional Phase 2) offering spectacular alpine views. Ideal for families — options for pony rides, short treks or relaxation at a meadow-side café. Return to Srinagar by evening.
Important: Gondola operates subject to weather; tickets booked on spot where available.
Sonamarg OR Leisure Day in Srinagar
Choose between a day trip to Sonamarg (gateway to Thajiwas Glacier; scenic drives and short walks) or a leisure day in Srinagar to enjoy houseboat hospitality, spa, and further exploration of local cuisine and markets. For families, this day is ideal for low-key activities and rest.
Tip: Sonamarg is best in summer; snow and glacier access vary by season.
Departure — Last-minute Shopping & Transfer to Airport
Relaxed morning for final photos and last-minute shopping for saffron, dry fruits, and pashmina. Transfer to Srinagar Airport for your onward flight. Bid farewell to the Himalayas with memories of a peaceful Kashmir Family Retreat package.
Special note: Check flight timings and allow sufficient time for lake-to-airport transfers (traffic can be variable).

Our Kashmir Coordinator Never Left Us Guessing
We booked our Kashmir trip through TourGrids for our anniversary, and honestly the coordinator assigned to us — Rahul — was the real reason everything went well. Right from the planning stage, he was available on WhatsApp at odd hours, patiently answering every small question my husband and I had. When our Srinagar hotel had a room issue on day two, he got it fixed within the hour without us having to chase anyone. The itinerary was properly planned around what we wanted — not some copy-paste package. Hotels were proper good, cabs were always on time. No surprise charges at the end either. That kind of support genuinely makes a difference when you're travelling somewhere new.
First Time Trusting a Company With Kashmir
I'll be honest — booking a full trip through a travel company felt risky to me. My husband and I had always planned things ourselves, so handing over Kashmir to someone else was a little nerve-wracking. But TourGrids genuinely surprised us. Our coordinator Priya was available on WhatsApp throughout, answered every anxious question without making me feel like I was being annoying, and the itinerary she built around our dates was actually thoughtful — not just a copy-paste package. Hotels were proper good, cab driver was punctual, no hidden charges when we settled up. The whole trip just... worked. That kind of reliability is rare, and it means a lot when you're travelling somewhere as beautiful as Kashmir.
