Itinerary
Arrival at Dehradun — Transfer to Lansdowne and Evening Leisure
Arrive at Dehradun (Jolly Grant Airport/Railway Station) in the morning. Meet and greet, then drive ~2.5 to 3 hours to Lansdowne through scenic foothills. Check-in at the hotel/resort and relax. Evening at leisure to explore the quaint town, walk along the local market and enjoy a peaceful sunset.
Tip: Carry a light rain jacket and waterproof footwear during monsoon months.
Explore Lansdowne: Bhulla Tal, Tip-in-Top & War Memorial
Full day to discover Lansdowne. Visit Bhulla Tal (a quiet lake ideal for family walks), the War Memorial (commanding views and a moving tribute), and Tip-in-Top viewpoint for sweeping vistas of the Himalayan foothills. Enjoy nature trails and birdwatching in the pine-clad slopes.
Note: Short, easy walks are suitable for all ages — bring binoculars for birding.
Lansdowne Leisure Morning — Drive to Chakrata via Dehradun
Leisurely morning in Lansdowne: optional visit to the local church or a short nature walk. After lunch, check out and drive ~4 hours to Chakrata via Dehradun. En route, enjoy changing landscapes as you enter denser pine and oak forests. Check-in and unwind at the Chakrata hotel/resort.
Note: Road to Chakrata has winding sections — keep motion-sickness medication if sensitive.
Chakrata: Tiger Falls and Local Sightseeing
After breakfast, head to Tiger Falls — one of the highest direct waterfalls in Uttarakhand, perfect for photographs and a fresh mountain dip from a safe distance. Later explore local attractions like Kharamba Peak (views), the serene Chilmiri Neck viewpoint at sunset, and meandering forest trails.
Tip: Carry dry snacks and water; some trails are slippery during monsoon — wear sturdy shoes.
Budher Caves, Deoban Pines and Village Walks
Spend the day exploring Budher Caves (also known as Tiger Cave) and the surrounding Deoban pine forests. Enjoy an easy trek through pine groves, panoramic viewpoints and optional visits to nearby villages to experience local culture and simple mountain life. Important: Budher Caves involve uneven steps and brief scrambling — supervise children closely.
Return to Dehradun — Robbers' Cave/Sahastradhara (time permitting) & Departure
After breakfast, check out and drive back to Dehradun for your onward journey. If time permits, visit Robbers' Cave (Guchhupani) or Sahastradhara for a short break before transfer to the airport/railway station. Trip concludes with drop-off and warm farewells.
