Itinerary

Day1

Arrival & Evening Preview Shoot

Arrival at Jaipur/Jodhpur (depending on your chosen transfer). Drive to Mandawa in the Shekhawati region. Settle into a heritage haveli hotel and do an orientation walk to prep gear. Evening preview shoot focuses on warm-hour details—doorways, frescoes, and textured walls.

Photographer's tip: Arrive with batteries charged and a 24-70mm and 50mm for detail and environmental portraits.

Day2

Sunrise Havelis & Travel to Bikaner

Early morning sunrise shoot at the Mandawa Havelis to capture frescoes and soft sidelight. After breakfast, drive to Bikaner (approx. 3–4 hrs). Afternoon visit to Junagarh Fort and the old city for strong architectural frames; evening golden-hour street scenes in bazaars.

Important: Carry ND filters for creative exposures in bright midday light.

Day3

Bikaner to Jaisalmer — First Impressions

After sunrise/early morning capture in Bikaner (portraits and market life), depart for Jaisalmer (approx. 5–6 hrs). Check-in and relax. Late-afternoon shoot at Gadisar Lake and first evening views of Jaisalmer Fort as it lights up at dusk—excellent for silhouette and warm-tone photos.

Day4

Jaisalmer Fort & Haveli Walks

Full day exploring Jaisalmer Fort (patios, narrow lanes, rooftop vistas) and the intricate havelis of the old town such as Patwon Ki Haveli and Salim Singh Ki Haveli. Afternoon workshop-style session focusing on composition, light, and storytelling with locals.

Special note: Respect private haveli interiors—ask permission before photographing people indoors.

Day5

Desert Safari, Sunset Dunes & Overnight Camp

Drive to Sam Sand Dunes for late-afternoon dune exploration. Capture the dramatic desert sunset, long shadows on ripples, and camel silhouettes. Overnight in a desert camp with opportunities for night-sky long-exposure and Milky Way photography (season permitting).

Tip: Bring a wide-angle lens (14–24mm or 16–35mm) and a sturdy tripod for star trails and Milky Way shots.

Day6

Sunrise Dunes & Departure

Optional pre-dawn shoot to capture dramatic dune shapes at sunrise. Return to Jaisalmer for breakfast and final town shoots—portrait opportunities with local artisans and last-minute market frames. Transfer to Jaisalmer railway station/airport or drive back to your onward destination.

Departure note: If you have a late departure, consider an additional rooftop session in Jaisalmer Fort for evening light.

Rajasthan Hotels Were a Genuine Step Up

We were honestly not expecting the kind of properties TourGrids put us in — my husband and I have done Rajasthan before on our own, and the difference was clear from the first night in Jaipur itself. The heritage hotel they booked had this whole courtyard setup, proper good vibes, nothing like those mid-range places we usually end up with. Udaipur and Jaisalmer stays were equally well chosen. And the cabs — always on time, clean cars, drivers who actually knew the routes. No waiting around, no last-minute confusion. Our coordinator had everything lined up before we even landed. Genuinely one of the better-planned trips we have taken as a couple.
