Arrival in Kochi — Introduction to Kerala's heritage
Arrive at Cochin International Airport / Ernakulam Station and transfer to your hotel in Fort Kochi / Mattancherry. Afternoon city orientation covering the colonial and cultural landmarks. Evening Kathakali demonstration and a relaxed walk by the seaside.
Suggested activities:
- Visit Mattancherry Palace (Dutch Palace) and the Jewish Synagogue (Paradesi Synagogue).
- Stroll through Fort Kochi to see the iconic Chinese fishing nets and colonial streets.
Tip: If arrival time permits, attend a short Kathakali makeup demonstration to learn the storylines and gestures before visiting temples.
Transfer to Guruvayur — Pilgrimage & Temple Darshan
Travel to Guruvayur (approx. 3–4 hours by road). Check-in and prepare for an evening darshan at the renowned Guruvayur Temple, one of Kerala's most important pilgrimage sites.
Highlights:
- Guruvayur Temple darshan assistance arranged.
- Visit the nearby Guruvayur Devaswom elephant training centre and see the temple elephants up close.
Note: Dress code for temple darshan will be explained by your guide. Carry a copy of ID for entry where required.
Guruvayur — Pilgrim rituals and nearby shrines
A full day dedicated to spiritual experiences in and around Guruvayur. Participate in or observe pujas and temple rituals, and explore nearby sacred spots.
Activities:
- Morning darshan / special puja arrangements (subject to temple timings).
- Visit Mammiyur Mahadeva Temple (Lord Shiva) and other nearby shrines for a broader pilgrimage experience.
- Time for personal prayer, meditation, and exploring local markets for devotional souvenirs.
Tip: Early morning is the most serene time for darshan and capturing quiet photographs near the temple precincts.
Transfer to Thrissur — Cultural immersion & Pooram insights
Drive to Thrissur (approx. 1 hour). Thrissur is Kerala's cultural capital and gives deep insights into the famed Thrissur Pooram festival and temple arts.
Highlights:
- Visit Vadakkunnathan Temple, the heart of Thrissur's temple culture.
- Explore the Kerala Kalamandalam (or a local cultural institute) to learn about classical arts like Kathakali and Mohiniyattam.
- Visit the Thrissur Pooram Museum and learn about the history, elephants, and percussion ensembles.
Important: Thrissur Pooram is an annual festival (usually April/May). This package offers cultural insights year-round; attendance at actual Pooram events depends on travel dates and festival schedule.
Thrissur — Temple traditions, percussion & local experiences
A day to delve deeper into temple arts and rituals in Thrissur.
Activities:
- Observe traditional percussion rehearsals (Chenda Melam) and understand the role of percussion in Pooram celebrations.
- Optional visit to a local elephant stable or cultural workshop: learn about mural art, percussion, or classical dance.
- Evening free for shopping or attending a live arts performance (subject to availability).

Return to Kochi / Departure
After breakfast, check out and transfer back to Kochi for onward travel. Depending on your departure schedule, you may have time for last-minute sightseeing or shopping in Fort Kochi / Ernakulam.
