Overview

A compact, action-packed 6 nights / 7 days North-East tour package that links three of Northeast India's most iconic natural experiences: the verdant rolling hills and Apatani culture of Ziro Valley (Arunachal), the floral meadows and dramatic ridgelines of Dzukou Valley (Nagaland/Manipur border), and a short, scenic Goecha La Intro in Sikkim offering first-time vistas of Mount Kanchenjunga. This North-East Adventure tour package is perfect for travelers who want a concentrated taste of the region's biodiversity, tribal culture, and Himalayan panoramas in one trip.

Highlights:

  • Ziro Valley: Apatani villages, pine forests, and emerald paddy landscapes
  • Dzukou Valley: World-famous seasonal blooms and valley treks
  • Goecha La Intro (Sikkim): Introductory trek/ viewpoint for Kanchenjunga views
  • Cultural encounters with the Apatani community and local markets
  • Scenic drives, short-medium treks, and mountain hospitality

Note: This itinerary includes long drives and early transfers to maximize time at each destination. The Goecha La section is an introductory visit — the full Goecha La trek requires additional days.

Itinerary

Day1

Arrival to Guwahati — Transfer to Ziro

Arrive at Guwahati (Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport) in the morning. Meet your tour representative and begin the scenic drive to Ziro Valley (approx 8–9 hours by road depending on traffic). The route offers changing landscapes from Brahmaputra plains to the rolling hills of Arunachal. Check into your guesthouse or eco-lodge in Ziro.

Evening: Short orientation walk around the local market and a relaxed dinner featuring local cuisine.

Tip: Start early to make the most of daylight; the drive includes a few stops for photos and refreshments.

Day2

Explore Ziro Valley & Apatani Cultural Visit

Full day exploring the Ziro Valley — famous for its rice fields, pine forests, and the unique Apatani tribal culture. Visit Hapoli local market, Apatani tribal villages (such as Hong and Hija), and vantage points for panoramic valley views. Option to visit the nearby Talley Valley (subject to time and permits).

Activities: Guided village walk, cultural interaction with Apatani hosts, photography at rice terraces, sunset at a valley viewpoint.

Important: Respect local customs and always ask before photographing individuals.

Day3

Drive to Kohima / Dzukou Base (via Dimapur)

Early breakfast and depart Ziro for the Northeast plains and onward to Dimapur / Kohima region (long travel day — expect 9–11 hours including border/stops). Transfer to accommodation near Kohima or the common Dzukou base villages (e.g., Viswema/Nagaland side) and rest after arrival.

Evening: Brief briefing for the Dzukou trek the next day and gear check.

Note: Travel times vary; this day is primarily transit to position you for the Dzukou Valley trek.

Day4

Dzukou Valley Trek — Full Day

Early morning transfer to the trek trailhead. Trek into Dzukou Valley, often called the 'Valley of Flowers' of the Northeast. Enjoy lush meadows, seasonal wildflowers (best in monsoon/post-monsoon), and panoramic ridgelines. Picnic lunch in the valley.

Trek Level: Moderate — 4–6 hours round trip depending on the chosen route and group pace. Return to Kohima/nearby base by evening.

Tip: Carry a light daypack, water, sun protection, and layered clothing; mountain weather changes quickly.

Day5

Transfer to Bagdogra / NJP — Drive to Yuksom / Pelling (Sikkim)

After breakfast, transfer to Dimapur/Guwahati to catch onward transport (flight or private transfer) to Bagdogra Airport / New Jalpaiguri (NJP). From NJP/Bagdogra, drive across scenic roads towards Yuksom / Pelling in West Sikkim (approx 5–7 hours by road depending on route).

Evening: Check into your mountain lodge. Short walk around town and cultural sights such as Pemayangtse Monastery or local markets.

Important: Travel on this day involves inter-state transfers and possible flight/train connections; schedule will be planned to minimize stress.

Day6

Goecha La Intro — Short Guided Trek & Kanchenjunga Viewpoints

This day focuses on a Goecha La Intro — a carefully curated, short trek and viewpoint experience to introduce you to the Goecha La region and spectacular views of Mount Kanchenjunga. Options include:

  • A guided short trek to a local vantage point/foothill that offers impressive views of Kanchenjunga and surrounding peaks.
  • Cultural visit to Yuksom: the historic coronation site of the first Chogyal and local monasteries.

Duration: Half-day to a full-day activity depending on chosen route. Evening at leisure in Yuksom/Pelling.

Note: This package provides an introductory experience. The full Goecha La trek (to high camps and Samiti Lake) requires 8–10+ days and higher acclimatization.

Day7

Departure — Transfer to NJP/Bagdogra / End of Tour

After breakfast, prepare for the return transfer to Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station (allow 5–7 hours). Depending on your onward travel plans, connect to flights/trains to your next destination.

End of the Complete Northeast Adventure. Guests are dropped at the transit hub with memories and photo highlights of Ziro, Dzukou and a peak into the Goecha La region.

Tip: Allow buffer time for mountain traffic; we recommend booking onward travel for late afternoon/evening to avoid rushed connections.

Every Hotel in North-East Was a Surprise

We had low expectations from the accommodations honestly, because North-East trips can be hit or miss with properties. But whatever TourGrids picked for us — from Gangtok to Tawang — every hotel was proper good. Clean rooms, decent views, breakfast included, no last-minute downgrades. My wife was genuinely impressed, which doesn't happen easily. The cab arrangements were equally solid. Same driver for most legs, punctual, comfortable vehicle, no random handoffs mid-trip. Transfers between states were pre-planned and the coordinator shared timing details a day before each leg. No confusion, no waiting around with luggage. We spoke maybe three times on call before booking and everything discussed was actually delivered. That part still surprises me.

Our North-East Coordinator Replied at Every Hour

We were four friends traveling to North-East for the first time, and honestly none of us had any clue about how things work in that region — permits, connectivity, the whole thing. The coordinator TourGrids assigned us, Deepak, was available on WhatsApp practically round the clock. Every small doubt got answered before it became a problem. One evening our cab was running late and he sorted it on call within minutes, no drama. Hotels were proper good — nothing felt like a downgrade. The itinerary covered Meghalaya and Sikkim without feeling rushed. No hidden charges popped up at the end either, which was a relief. Genuinely felt like someone was looking out for us the entire trip.

North-East Itinerary Built Around Our Pace

We had been going back and forth on the North-East for months, unsure where to start. A friend suggested TourGrids and honestly, one call with their team changed everything. They asked the right questions — how many days, whether we wanted offbeat places, our budget — and came back with an itinerary that actually made sense for a couple like us. We tweaked a couple of things over WhatsApp and they adjusted without any fuss. Hotels were proper good, cabs were on time throughout, and there were no surprise charges at the end. The coordinator was reachable the whole time. Planning something this detailed on our own would have taken weeks.

North-East on a Budget, Zero Compromises

I had priced out a North-East trip on my own last year and it was getting complicated fast — different vendors for cabs, hotels scattered across booking sites, no one to call if something went wrong. TourGrids bundled everything into one package and it actually came out cheaper. Traveled with my husband for 8 days covering Meghalaya and Sikkim. Hotels were proper good — clean, well-located, nothing felt like a budget compromise. Meals, cabs, even the permits were sorted. Our coordinator was reachable on WhatsApp throughout and there were no surprise charges at the end. What you see in the quote is what you pay — that alone made it worth it.

Vaishali Pereddy

North-East Cabs and Stays Both Impressed Us

We did a North-East trip as a couple — Meghalaya, Kaziranga, and Majuli — and honestly the hotels TourGrids picked were proper good. Not just decent, but actually well-located with clean rooms and good breakfast. I was a little skeptical before booking because we had specific preferences, but the coordinator noted everything down on our WhatsApp call and got it right. The cab transfers between destinations were the part I was most worried about, given those roads, but the drivers were punctual and the vehicles were comfortable. No last-minute confusion, no being dropped at the wrong property. Everything was where it was supposed to be, when it was supposed to be.
