Itinerary

Day1

Arrival, Transfer to Gangtok & Evening Orientation

Arrive at Bagdogra Airport / New Jalpaiguri (NJP) and drive to Gangtok (approx. 4–5 hours). Check into the hotel and rest. In the late afternoon take a gentle orientation walk on MG Road, visit the local market, and enjoy a welcome briefing with your naturalist guide about birdwatching etiquette and the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary plan. Altitude is moderate; keep hydrated and avoid strenuous activity on arrival.

Day2

Scenic Drive to Lachung with En-route Stops

Depart early for Lachung in North Sikkim. En route enjoy panoramic views and photo stops — Tashi Viewpoint, Seven Sisters Falls, Bara Pathar viewpoints and the cascading rivers. Check into your mountain lodge in Lachung and attend a short briefing with the local guide about the next day's birdwatching trek in the sanctuary. Carry a light daypack, binoculars, layered clothing and sunscreen.

Day3

Full Day: Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary & Yumthang Valley

Spend the day exploring the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary and nearby Yumthang Valley — one of the best high-altitude birdwatching and rhododendron habitats in Sikkim. Guided walks on well-laid trails focus on spotting species such as Himalayan Monal, Blood Pheasant, Satyr Tragopan, Himalayan Griffon, and many warblers and finches. Picnic lunch in the valley. Optional short drive to Thangu (seasonal) to witness alpine meadows. Return to Lachung in the evening. Expect cooler temperatures; layered warm clothing and sturdy walking shoes recommended.

Day4

More Birdwatching or Local Village Walks, Return to Gangtok

Morning birdwatching session near Lachung focusing on early-active species; visit local Lachung village, meet community members to learn about mountain livelihoods and conservation. After lunch, drive back to Gangtok with scenic stops and photo opportunities. Evening free for personal exploration or optional spa/relaxation at the hotel. The morning is the best time for bird activity — be ready before sunrise.

Day5

Departure: Transfer to Bagdogra / NJP

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Bagdogra Airport / NJP Railway Station for your onward journey. En route stop at Rumtek Monastery or Enchey Monastery (time permitting) for a cultural photo stop and a final view of the hills. Trip concludes with memories and a handover of a quick species checklist from your guide. Allow sufficient travel buffer for flights/trains; road and weather conditions in the mountains can affect timings.

Sikkim for Two Without Any Budget Surprises

My wife and I were comparing packages for Sikkim and I'd already spent two evenings trying to piece it together myself — flights, cabs, hotels separately. The TourGrids quote came in lower than what I was calculating on my own, and everything was included: airport transfers, a proper mid-range hotel in Gangtok, sightseeing cabs, and even a few meals. No hidden charges when we actually travelled, which honestly I was half-expecting. The coordinator was easy to reach on WhatsApp and sorted our room upgrade question on call within the hour. For a 6-night trip, the value was genuinely hard to argue with. We'd been unsure about handing over the planning — turned out to be the right call.

Our Sikkim Coordinator Never Left Us On Hold

My husband and I were planning our first proper trip to Sikkim and honestly had no idea where to start. A friend suggested TourGrids, so I reached out on WhatsApp. The coordinator assigned to us, Rohit, was genuinely responsive — like, replying within minutes even on evenings. He built the entire itinerary around our dates, suggested which monasteries were actually worth visiting, and confirmed every hotel and cab before we even landed. When our connecting flight got delayed, he had already spoken to the driver and rescheduled the pickup by the time I messaged him. No scrambling, no confusion. The hotels were proper good too. Billing was transparent, no surprise charges at the end.

Sikkim Stays Turned Out Genuinely Impressive

We had booked a Sikkim trip for our honeymoon and honestly had no idea what to expect from TourGrids. From the first WhatsApp conversation, the coordinator was patient and helped us pick properties that actually matched what we were looking for — not just whatever was cheapest. The hotels in Gangtok and Pelling were proper good, clean rooms, nice views, and no unpleasant surprises at check-in. Cab transfers between locations were already arranged and drivers were on time every single day. Mountain roads can be unpredictable but everything ran without any confusion. Billing was transparent, no hidden charges added later. Really glad we trusted them with such an important trip.

Cab Rebooked Before I Even Panicked

Our cab driver in Sikkim called in sick on day three — right when we had the Tsomgo Lake visit planned. My wife and I were just sitting at the hotel not knowing what to do. I dropped a WhatsApp to our TourGrids coordinator and honestly within 20 minutes a replacement cab was confirmed with a proper driver who knew the route well. No extra charge, no back and forth. The rest of the trip ran exactly as planned — hotels were proper good, especially the one in Gangtok with the mountain view. This was our first trip fully planned through someone else and it genuinely felt like someone had our back throughout.

Sikkim Hotels Alone Were Worth Every Rupee

Traveled to Sikkim with my wife last month and honestly the accommodations TourGrids arranged were a cut above what I expected at that price point. The property in Gangtok had proper mountain views and the resort near Pelling was cozy and well-located — not some random budget place. What also stood out was the cab arrangement. Driver was always on time, knew the routes well, and the vehicle was comfortable for the hilly terrain. Our coordinator Priya was responsive on WhatsApp throughout the trip. We had one small timing issue on day two and she got it fixed quickly over a call. No surprise charges at checkout either — everything was exactly as discussed.
