Itinerary
Arrival, Transfer to Gangtok & Evening Orientation
Arrival at Bagdogra Airport / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station. Drive to Gangtok (approx. 4–5 hours) with scenic views of the Teesta River and terraced hills. Check-in at your hotel and rest. In the evening, take a relaxed stroll at MG Road for local shopping and an introductory feel of Sikkimese culture. Early arrivals should rest well to acclimatize to altitude.
Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir Excursion
Full-day excursion to Tsomgo Lake (also called Changu Lake) and Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir. Enjoy the serene glacial lake set against the Himalayan slopes; optional yak rides available near the lake. Nathu La can be visited only if open and with separate permits (seasonal) — ask at booking. Return to Gangtok by evening. Dress warmly; temperatures can drop swiftly.
Gangtok Cultural & Monastery Sightseeing
Explore Gangtok's spiritual and cultural highlights: Rumtek Monastery, Enchey Monastery, Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, and the Handicraft Centre for authentic souvenirs. Afternoon at leisure with optional visits to the Flower Exhibition Centre or a short cable car ride for panoramic views. Carry a light jacket; some monastery visits require modest attire.
Drive to Lachen via Teesta Valley
Drive northwards to Lachen (approx. 6–7 hours) crossing picturesque towns like Mangan and Chungthang along the Teesta river. En route, enjoy scenic viewpoints and pastoral landscapes. Check-in at Lachen hotel/guesthouse and rest early for the high-altitude excursion next morning. Roads are mountainous; expect stops for acclimatization and photo breaks.
Gurudongmar Lake Excursion & Transfer to Lachung
Early morning drive to the pristine Gurudongmar Lake (one of the highest lakes in India). Witness the surreal blue waters set against snow-capped peaks — a spiritual and photographic highlight. After the excursion, return towards Lachung with stops at local viewpoints. Check-in at Lachung and relax. High-altitude conditions; carry warm clothing and necessary medications.
Yumthang Valley & Zero Point Exploration
Full-day visit to Yumthang Valley — the 'Valley of Flowers' (seasonal blooms of rhododendron) and Zero Point (if accessible) for snow experiences. Enjoy short walks, panoramic vistas, and photo opportunities. Return to Lachung and then start the drive back towards Gangtok, arriving by late evening or next morning depending on road conditions. Yumthang is a highlight of this Sikkim Adventure package — expect chilly weather even in summer.
Return to Gangtok — Leisure & Optional Activities
Arrive back in Gangtok. Day at leisure for shopping, spa, or optional activities such as local culinary experiences, short treks (subject to time), or visiting nearby attractions you may have missed earlier. This day is ideal for rest and light exploration after the North Sikkim high-altitude excursions.
Departure to Bagdogra / NJP — End of Tour
After breakfast, check out and drive to Bagdogra Airport / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station for your onward journey. Drop-off assistance provided. Keep adequate buffer time for travel to the airport/railway station given mountain road travel times.
