Arrival at Junagadh — Explore Forts & Heritage
Arrival in Junagadh (by road/rail/air via Rajkot/Junagadh). Check-in and freshen up. Spend the day exploring the town's historic highlights: visit Uparkot Fort with its ancient ramparts and stepwells; see the Ashoka Rock Edicts at Girnar foothills; visit Mahabat Maqbara — an architectural gem. Evening at leisure with an optional walk around the local bazaar.
Travel tip: Carry comfortable walking shoes for uneven terrain at forts and archaeological sites.
Girnar Temples & Transfer to Sasan Gir
Early morning excursion to the Girnar foothills to view the temple complex and, for those who wish, begin the climb (partial) to experience the hill's spiritual ambiance — see our guide on the Girnar Hill trek and ropeway to Ambaji for what to expect. After lunch, drive to Sasan Gir (approx. 2–3 hours). Evening at the resort with a short nature walk or village visit.
Important: The Girnar climb involves many steps — plan according to fitness level and weather.
Gir National Park Safari & Transfer to Somnath
Pre-dawn departure for an early morning Gir National Park jeep safari for Asiatic lions — your best chance to spot the Asiatic lion, as well as leopards, deer and diverse birdlife. Return to the resort for breakfast, then check-out and drive to Somnath / Veraval (approx. 2 hours). Evening darshan at the iconic Somnath Temple and attend the mesmerizing evening aarti.
Note: Jungle safaris are subject to park timings and availability — advance booking is recommended.
Somnath — Pilgrimage & Local Sights
Full day to soak in the spiritual and historical significance of Somnath. Visit the Somnath Temple (second darshan if desired), Triveni Sangam (confluence), Bhalka Tirth where Lord Krishna is said to have been struck, and the Archaeological Museum at Prabhas Patan. Evening free for beach-side relaxation or local shopping.
Local tip: Attend the morning or evening aarti for a memorable spiritual experience.
Departure — End of Classic Saurashtra Tour
After breakfast, check-out and transfer to Veraval / Rajkot / Rajkot Airport or onward destination as per your travel plans. En-route photo stops or a short visit to local markets if time permits.
Package note: Custom extensions available — ask about adding Dwarka, Porbandar or Dwarka-Somnath circuit for a longer Gujarat Pilgrimage package.
