Arrival at Ahmedabad and Transfer to Velavadar
Arrive at Ahmedabad (by flight/train) and meet your representative. Proceed by road to Velavadar (approx. 2.5–3.5 hours). Check into your safari lodge. In the evening, take a short nature walk or relax at the lodge while enjoying the open grassland views.
Tip: If you arrive early, request an early lunch and rest briefly before departing for Velavadar to maximize wildlife spotting time.
Morning & Evening Safari at Velavadar National Park
Spend a full day exploring Velavadar Blackbuck National Park, known for its extensive grasslands and high density of Indian blackbuck, along with foxes, wolves, blue bulls (nilgai), and a variety of birds. Enjoy an early morning jeep safari for the best wildlife sightings and a late afternoon/evening safari when animals are most active. Between safaris, relax at the lodge, enjoy a guided Blackbuck National Park (Velavadar) safari birdwatching session, or visit a nearby village to experience rural Gujarat life.
Note: Morning safaris are cooler and offer better chances to observe predators and early risers. Carry binoculars, a hat, and sunscreen.
Transfer to Little Rann of Kutch and Evening Village Visit
After breakfast, depart for the Little Rann of Kutch (approx. 3–4 hours). Check into your desert-edge camp or lodge. In the late afternoon, visit a nearby salt-farming village or artisan community to see traditional crafts and local life. Enjoy a sunset over the saline plains — ideal for photography.
Highlight: The contrast between Velavadar grasslands and the Rann's salt flats makes for unique wildlife and landscape photography.
Full-Day Safari in Little Rann of Kutch (Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary)
Today is dedicated to the Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary, Little Rann of Kutch — home to the rare Gujarat Wild Ass (Gujarat Kharai). Enjoy morning and afternoon/early evening Little Rann of Kutch Wild Ass Sanctuary safari to spot wild ass, foxes, nilgai, and a rich assemblage of migratory and resident birds (flamingos, pelicans, and steppe birds in season). Learn about conservation efforts at the sanctuary and visit a local interpretation center if available.
Tip: Carry water, comfortable clothing, and a camera with a telephoto lens. Wildlife moves with the seasons — winter months offer excellent birding.
Optional Morning Safari and Departure to Ahmedabad
Optional early morning short safari or bird walk (time permitting). After breakfast, check out and drive back to Ahmedabad (approx. 4 hours). Arrive in Ahmedabad for onward travel or flights. Trip concludes with drop at Ahmedabad station/airport.
Travel note: Schedule return flights in the evening or later in the day to avoid rushed connections after the morning safari.
