Itinerary
Arrival, Orientation & Bhuj Heritage Shoot
Arrive at Bhuj. Pick-up and transfer to hotel. Afternoon orientation with the lead photography instructor covering the week's goals, safety, and gear checklist. Evening photo-walk in Bhuj: capture the architectural details of Aina Mahal, the courtyard textures of Prag Mahal, and candid portraits at the Bhuj market and Bhujodi weaving village.
Tip: Keep a fast prime (35mm or 50mm) for low-light indoor and market portraits.
Transfer to Dhordo — Banni Grasslands & Sunset at White Rann
Morning departure to Dhordo across the Banni Grasslands. Stop for landscape and wildlife silhouettes in the grasslands and a portrait session with local craftspersons in Hodka village. Arrive at the White Rann in time for sunset — set up for wide-angle compositions and long-exposure techniques on the salt flats.
Important: Carry sunscreen, hat, and spare lens cloths — salt and wind can affect gear.
Sunrise on the Salt Flats & Kalo Dungar Panorama
Early-morning sunrise shoot on the White Rann to capture pastel skies and mirrored salt reflections. After breakfast, travel to Kalo Dungar (Black Hill) for sweeping vistas of the Rann and the historic Dattatreya Temple. Evening techniques session covering bracketing, panoramic stitching, and low-light handheld strategies.
Note: Dawn and dusk are the busiest shoot times — instructors will help position groups to minimize interference and maximize angles.
Village Cultural Shoots & Nomadic Life
Day dedicated to cultural and portrait photography: visits to local Banni and Rabari hamlets, artisan studios, and salt workers. Learn ethical portrait practices, bargaining for permissions, and quick-setup off-camera flash techniques. Sunset option at a quieter stretch of the salt flats for silhouette studies.
Tip: Carry a portrait lens (85mm or 70-200mm) and always ask permission before photographing people. Small tokens/gifts are appreciated by villagers.
Drive to Mandvi — Coastal Compositions & Palace Architecture
Travel from Dhordo to Mandvi. Afternoon shoot at Vijay Vilas Palace focusing on architectural details and symmetry. Golden-hour shoot on Mandvi Beach capturing sand textures, fishermen boats, and coastal silhouettes. Evening post-processing workshop: ingest, backup, and a guided edit of select images from the trip.
Note: Check tide timings for best beach compositions; instructors will advise shooting windows.
Final Review, Portfolio Critique & Departure
Morning optional beach or palace re-shoot for missed frames or sunrise practice. Final portfolio review and group critique with constructive feedback and image-selection tips for contests and publications. Transfer to Bhuj for drop-off at airport/railway. End of the Gujarat Adventure tour package.
Reminder: Allow buffer time for transfers to the airport/station; we recommend booking flights after 1:00 PM from Bhuj on departure day.
