Itinerary
Arrival & Introduction to Darjeeling
Arrival at Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Railway Station. Drive (approx. 3-4 hours) to Darjeeling via scenic hill roads. Check in at your hotel and unwind. Afternoon stroll on Mall Road and a relaxed orientation walk. Short visit to Happy Valley Tea Estate for an introductory tea-tasting session and a gentle tea-garden walk to learn about orthodox tea processing.
Important: Allow time for acclimatization to the altitude. Light activity recommended on arrival day.
Sunrise at Tiger Hill & Darjeeling Sightseeing
Early pre-dawn drive to Tiger Hill to witness sunrise over the Himalayas — spectacular views of Mount Kanchenjunga and, on clear days, Mount Everest. Return to Darjeeling for breakfast. Visit Batasia Loop, Ghoom Monastery, and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre.
Afternoon tea plantation walk and optional short photography walk through colonial lanes. Evening free for shopping at the Tibetan Market or a cozy cafe with panoramic hill views.
Guided Hill Trek & Cultural Immersion
After breakfast, set out on a guided day trek along a scenic ridge/tea-trail near Darjeeling (gentle/moderate grade, 3–5 hours depending on pace). Walk through forest patches, rhododendron groves, and tea terraces with panoramic glimpses of Kanchenjunga. Picnic lunch en route.
Return in late afternoon for a cultural session with a local family (tea-plucking demonstration and traditional snacks) or visit local handicraft shops to learn about traditional weaving and paper products.
Note: Trek difficulty can be customized — inform us ahead if you prefer a lighter or more challenging route.
Transfer to Hill Homestay — Lamahatta / Takdah Experience
Drive to the quieter hill hamlet of Lamahatta or Takdah for an authentic homestay experience amid tea gardens and pine forests. Check in to a community-run homestay. Afternoon village walk with your host — tea-plucking demonstrations in season, local kitchen tour and a hands-on cooking demo of a traditional hill meal.
Evening: sit outdoors for star-gazing and listen to folk stories. Dinner with locally sourced produce.
Highlights: Personalized hospitality, home-cooked meals, small-group interactions.
Birdwatching, Short Trek & Mirik Lake
Early morning birdwatching or a short sunrise walk to a nearby viewpoint to catch another angle of Kanchenjunga. After breakfast, drive to Mirik (approx. 2–3 hours). On arrival, enjoy boating on Sumendu Lake, explore the lakeside gardens, and stroll through the local market.
Evening: relaxed stay at a lakeside homestay or boutique hotel, with a final group dinner featuring regional delicacies.
Return & Departure
After breakfast, drive back to Bagdogra Airport / NJP for onward travel. En route, optional stop at Batasia Loop or a roadside viewpoint for final photo ops and purchase of any last-minute tea packs or souvenirs.
Important: Departure timing depends on your flight/train schedule. We recommend allowing 5–6 hours for the transfer to Bagdogra/NJP on the day of departure.

North-East Cabs and Rooms Both Delivered
We did a 9-day North-East trip — me and my wife — covering Meghalaya, Assam, and Sikkim. What stood out was the quality of properties TourGrids picked. Not just decent stays, genuinely good ones — clean rooms, good locations, breakfast included without us asking twice. The cab arrangements were equally solid. Every transfer was on time, drivers knew the routes well, and there was never that anxious wait wondering if the vehicle would show up. Our coordinator Priya sorted everything over WhatsApp before we left Delhi — no last-minute surprises, no hidden charges. After past trips where hotel quality was always a gamble, it felt good to just trust the process and enjoy the place.
Flight Got Cancelled, TourGrids Didn't Skip a Beat
We were already in Guwahati when IndiGo cancelled our onward flight to Dibrugarh — no warning, just a message at 7 AM. I panicked, my husband panicked, but honestly our TourGrids coordinator Ritu was calmer than both of us combined. She called within minutes, checked availability on two alternate routes, and had us rebooked on a different carrier before we'd even finished breakfast. The hotel in Jorhat was also adjusted without any drama. Rest of the North-East trip went exactly as planned — cabs on time, hotels proper good, no hidden charges at checkout. Planning had been easy over WhatsApp, but that one morning showed us what they're actually made of.
North-East Hotels Felt Chosen With Real Care
We were a couple doing North-East for the first time and honestly had no idea what to expect from the hotels in those areas. TourGrids surprised us completely — every property was clean, well-located, and in a couple of places genuinely beautiful. Nothing felt like a random filler booking. The cab transfers were equally solid. Drivers were on time, vehicles were comfortable for the mountain roads, and there was never that anxious moment of waiting and wondering. Our coordinator kept us updated before we even had to ask. Everything was sorted over WhatsApp before we left Delhi — no surprises on ground, no extra charges popping up. Honestly, the stay quality alone made the whole trip feel premium.
One Call Fixed What Could Have Ruined Everything
We were already in Meghalaya when our hotel in Kaziranga suddenly said they had no record of our booking. I called TourGrids in a panic and within 20 minutes, Arjun from their team had confirmed a different property — same quality, same price range, no extra charge from our side. My wife was relieved, honestly more than me. The rest of the North-East trip went without any issue, but that one moment told me everything about how they actually operate. Hotels were proper good throughout, cabs were always on time, and the itinerary had enough flexibility built in. No hidden charges at checkout either. Will be coming back for our next trip.
North-East Planning Felt Like Talking to Family
I was nervous about planning North-East because the region has so many places and I didn't know where to start. A friend suggested TourGrids and honestly the first call itself put me at ease. The coordinator listened to what my husband and I actually wanted — more nature, less rushing — and built the itinerary around that. We changed a couple of things and they adjusted without any fuss. Hotels were proper good, cabs were on time, and there were no surprise charges at the end. Everything was shared on WhatsApp clearly before we paid. The whole booking process took maybe three days from first call to confirmation.
Every Hotel in North-East Was a Surprise
We had low expectations from the accommodations honestly, because North-East trips can be hit or miss with properties. But whatever TourGrids picked for us — from Gangtok to Tawang — every hotel was proper good. Clean rooms, decent views, breakfast included, no last-minute downgrades. My wife was genuinely impressed, which doesn't happen easily. The cab arrangements were equally solid. Same driver for most legs, punctual, comfortable vehicle, no random handoffs mid-trip. Transfers between states were pre-planned and the coordinator shared timing details a day before each leg. No confusion, no waiting around with luggage. We spoke maybe three times on call before booking and everything discussed was actually delivered. That part still surprises me.
