Arrival in Guwahati & City Highlights
Arrival at Guwahati Airport / Railway Station. Transfer to hotel and short rest. Afternoon visit to Kamakhya Temple (one of Assam's key pilgrimage sites) and Umananda Island by ferry for scenic Brahmaputra views. Evening stroll at Fancy Bazaar or riverfront. Tip: Keep light woollens for early morning/evening breezes along the Brahmaputra.
Drive to Kaziranga - Village & Tea Estate En Route
After breakfast, scenic drive to Kaziranga National Park (approx. 4-5 hours). En route visit a local tea estate for a short walk among tea gardens and learn about tea processing. Check-in at resort near Kaziranga. Evening briefing on safari options and conservation talk. Note: Travel time may vary; road conditions can affect schedule.
Kaziranga - Elephant Safari & Jeep Safari
Early morning elephant safari into the central ranges of Kaziranga National Park — best for close sightings of the one-horned rhinoceros and other mammals. Return to resort for breakfast. Afternoon jeep safari covering a different zone for birdlife and wetlands. Optional evening nature walk or cultural programme at the resort.
Kaziranga to Jorhat - Tea Town Exploration
Post-breakfast drive to Jorhat (gateway to Majuli and Assam's tea heartland). On arrival visit the Tocklai Tea Research Institute or a local tea garden and the Jorhat Gymkhana Club area. Evening free to explore local markets. Tip: Sample local Assamese cuisine like 'masor tenga' and pitha.
Majuli River Island Cultural Immersion
Morning ferry to Majuli, the world's largest river island. Full-day exploration of satras (Vaishnavite monasteries), traditional mask-makers and tribal villages. Learn about handicrafts, pottery and local performing arts. Overnight stay on Majuli for authentic island experience. Important: Ferry schedules depend on river conditions; carry ID and small cash.
Majuli to Sivasagar - Ahom Heritage
Return ferry and drive to Sivasagar, the historic Ahom capital. Visit Rang Ghar, Talatal Ghar, Kareng Ghar (Garhgaon Palace) and the towering Siva Dol. Evening stroll through heritage lanes and local bazaars. This day focuses on archaeology, history and architecture of the Ahom dynasty.
Return to Guwahati & Departure
After breakfast drive back to Guwahati (approx. 4-5 hours). En route stop at scenic viewpoints or local markets. Drop at Airport / Railway Station for onward journey. If time permits, visit the Assam State Museum or a quick shopping stop for Muga silk and tea before departure.
