Overview
Itinerary
Arrival at Bagdogra/NJP — Transfer to Gangtok & Evening Orientation
Arrive at Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri (NJP) railway station and transfer (approx. 4–5 hours) to Gangtok. Settle into your hotel and enjoy a relaxed orientation with the guide. Evening walk along MG Marg for street photography, local life, and panoramic hill views. Rest early — the schedule includes several pre-dawn starts.
Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir — High-Altitude Photo Ops
Full-day excursion to Tsomgo (Changu) Lake and Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir. Capture reflective alpine-lake compositions, dramatic skies and high-altitude flora. Optionally (subject to permits and road-opening), visit Nathu La Pass for higher-altitude mountain vistas. Return to Gangtok in the evening. Carry warm layers, sunscreen and high-altitude medication if needed.
Drive to Lachen — Scenic Valley Transit & Village Frames
Early drive north to Lachen (approx. 6–7 hours) through terraced landscapes and the confluence town of Chungthang. The road offers multiple roadside stops for landscape and cultural photography — bridges, mountain streams, pine forests and traditional Sikkimese villages. Arrive in Lachen and prepare for next-day high-altitude shoot. Limited connectivity; carry spare batteries and memory cards.
Gurudongmar Sunrise — Transfer to Lachung
Very early morning drive (pre-dawn) to Gurudongmar Lake for a spectacular sunrise shoot with the Kangchenjunga massif and mirror-like lake surfaces (weather permitting). Return to Lachen for breakfast and then drive to Lachung via scenic gorges and waterfalls. Evening at leisure in Lachung — practice night/astrophotography if skies are clear. Gurudongmar is at very high altitude — acclimatization and permit documentation are mandatory.
Yumthang Valley & Zero Point — Flower Valleys and Snow Fields
Sunrise photography at Yumthang Valley (the Valley of Flowers) — meadows, streams and seasonal blooms with ridgelines as backdrop. Continue to Zero Point (subject to road status and permits) for expansive snowfields and crisp mountain panoramas. Afternoon transfer to Pelling with an evening photo stop at a viewpoint en route to capture sunset over the Kanchenjunga range. Yumthang bloom season (spring) is prime for floral photography; winter offers stark monochrome landscapes.
Pelling Exploration — Pemayangtse & Rabdentse, Departure
Early visit to Pemayangtse Monastery and Rabdentse Ruins for sunrise compositions of prayer flags, monastery rooftops and mountain backdrops. Explore Khecheopalri Lake (sacred wishing lake) and Pelling Skywalk / viewpoint for final wide-angle shots of the Kangchenjunga panorama. Transfer to Bagdogra/NJP for onward journey. Departure times depend on your onward flight/train schedule; allow 6–7 hours for transfer to Bagdogra/NJP.

Road Blocked in Sikkim, TourGrids Found a Way
We were somewhere between Gangtok and Lachung when the road got blocked due to a landslide. No warning, no backup plan from our side — just two of us standing there not knowing what to do. I called TourGrids and within twenty minutes they had rerouted the cab, adjusted the next two days of the itinerary, and got the hotel informed about the delay. No extra charge, no argument. The coordinator, Priya, stayed on WhatsApp the whole time until we reached safely. Rest of the Sikkim trip went exactly as planned. Hotels were proper good, cabs always on time. Genuinely felt like someone was traveling with us.
Sikkim Package Cost Less Than My Shortlist
I had spent two weeks building my own Sikkim itinerary — comparing hotels on different platforms, checking cab rates, reading blogs. When I finally got a quote from TourGrids, it came in lower than what I had pieced together myself, and that included meals, a proper AC cab throughout, and decent 3-star hotels. My husband and I were honestly skeptical at first, but the coordinator walked us through every inclusion on call — no vague answers, no hidden charges at checkout. The properties were clean, the cab driver was punctual, and Gangtok especially felt well-planned. What we got for that price, I could not have matched booking separately.
Sikkim Cabs and Rooms Left Us Speechless
We had been planning a Sikkim trip for almost a year, and honestly the hotels TourGrids arranged just settled it for us — every property was clean, well-located, and genuinely comfortable. Traveled with my wife, and she kept saying each hotel felt personally picked, not just whatever was available. The cab transfers were equally solid — drivers showed up on time, knew the mountain roads well, and the vehicles were proper good condition. No surprises, no last-minute scrambling. Our coordinator Rohit was on WhatsApp throughout and sorted a room upgrade at Gangtok without us even asking twice. For a hill destination where logistics can get messy, everything moved exactly as planned.
Sikkim Hotels Alone Were Worth the Booking
Honestly, I was not expecting the properties in Sikkim to be this good for the price we paid. My wife and I had done budget trips before where the hotels looked nothing like the photos — but TourGrids actually delivered. The resort near Gangtok had a proper mountain view, clean rooms, good service. Every cab was on time, drivers knew the routes well, and there was zero confusion at any transfer point. Our coordinator Rahul was reachable throughout — sorted a room upgrade on call before we even checked in. No surprises on billing either, what was quoted is what we paid. Really solid experience overall.
Sikkim Felt Taken Care Of at Every Turn
Our coordinator Priya was the real reason this Sikkim trip worked so well. My husband and I had a dozen questions before booking — hotel categories, road conditions, altitude — and she answered every single one over WhatsApp without making us feel like we were being annoying. Once we were on ground, she checked in daily. One evening our cab driver got confused about the next day's pickup point, and one message to Priya sorted it within minutes. Hotels were proper good, no surprise charges at checkout, and the itinerary actually matched what we had discussed on call. Honestly didn't feel like we were dealing with a company — felt more personal than that.
Sikkim for Two Without Any Budget Surprises
My wife and I were comparing packages for Sikkim and I'd already spent two evenings trying to piece it together myself — flights, cabs, hotels separately. The TourGrids quote came in lower than what I was calculating on my own, and everything was included: airport transfers, a proper mid-range hotel in Gangtok, sightseeing cabs, and even a few meals. No hidden charges when we actually travelled, which honestly I was half-expecting. The coordinator was easy to reach on WhatsApp and sorted our room upgrade question on call within the hour. For a 6-night trip, the value was genuinely hard to argue with. We'd been unsure about handing over the planning — turned out to be the right call.
