Itinerary
Arrival, Transfer & Acclimatization in Gangtok
Arrive at Bagdogra / NJP railway station / Siliguri and transfer to Gangtok (4–5 hours). Check into the hotel and rest. Short, gentle stroll around MG Marg in the evening. Pre-trip briefing with your trek leader and kit check. Keep hydrated and avoid strenuous activity to aid acclimatization.
Drive to Lachen via Chungthang — Scenic Stops & Preparations
Early morning drive to Lachen (approx. 6-7 hours) through beautiful valleys. En route visit Chungthang, Seven Sisters Waterfall, and stop for photo breaks overlooking the Teesta River. Reach Lachen, check-in, and short orientation about high-altitude camping. Rest early to prepare for the next day's early excursion.
Gurudongmar Lake Excursion & High-Altitude Camp Experience
Start very early (pre-dawn) for the drive to Gurudongmar Lake (17,800 ft) with stop at Thangu for acclimatization. Spend time at the shimmering Gurudongmar Lake, absorb the surreal high-altitude landscape and take photos. On selected departures enjoy an overnight high-altitude camp near Thangu / Gurudongmar to experience Himalayan night skies (subject to permits and weather). Acute mountain sickness precautions and oxygen support included.
Transfer to Lachung — Village Walk & Cultural Interaction
Descend and drive to Lachung after breakfast. En route admire waterfalls and pine-clad slopes. Check into the guesthouse in Lachung and take a leisurely village walk to interact with local communities. Evening briefing for the Yumthang trek/Zero Point. Carry warm layers and rain protection — mountain weather is unpredictable.
Yumthang Valley & Optional Zero Point Trek with Overnight Camp
Explore Yumthang Valley (the 'Valley of Flowers') — walk among rhododendron forests (seasonal), hot springs, and alpine meadows. For adventure seekers, undertake the trek to Zero Point (additional permit & guide required) for snowfields and vast panoramas; return to Yumthang for an overnight camping experience or a comfortable guesthouse stay depending on conditions. Zero Point is at higher altitude; proceed only if well-acclimatized.
Return to Gangtok — Relaxation & Optional Local Sightseeing
Drive back to Gangtok with scenic stops en route. Check into the hotel and relax. Optional short visits to Enchey Monastery or local markets depending on time. Final group dinner with your trekking crew to celebrate the challenge completed. Hydrate well and rest — travel day can be long.
Departure from Gangtok
After breakfast, transfer to Bagdogra / NJP / Siliguri for your onward journey. End of the Sikkim Adventure Challenge. Check your belongings and ensure all permits and certificates (if any) are collected.

Sikkim Stays Turned Out Genuinely Impressive
We had booked a Sikkim trip for our honeymoon and honestly had no idea what to expect from TourGrids. From the first WhatsApp conversation, the coordinator was patient and helped us pick properties that actually matched what we were looking for — not just whatever was cheapest. The hotels in Gangtok and Pelling were proper good, clean rooms, nice views, and no unpleasant surprises at check-in. Cab transfers between locations were already arranged and drivers were on time every single day. Mountain roads can be unpredictable but everything ran without any confusion. Billing was transparent, no hidden charges added later. Really glad we trusted them with such an important trip.
Cab Rebooked Before I Even Panicked
Our cab driver in Sikkim called in sick on day three — right when we had the Tsomgo Lake visit planned. My wife and I were just sitting at the hotel not knowing what to do. I dropped a WhatsApp to our TourGrids coordinator and honestly within 20 minutes a replacement cab was confirmed with a proper driver who knew the route well. No extra charge, no back and forth. The rest of the trip ran exactly as planned — hotels were proper good, especially the one in Gangtok with the mountain view. This was our first trip fully planned through someone else and it genuinely felt like someone had our back throughout.
Sikkim Hotels Alone Were Worth Every Rupee
Traveled to Sikkim with my wife last month and honestly the accommodations TourGrids arranged were a cut above what I expected at that price point. The property in Gangtok had proper mountain views and the resort near Pelling was cozy and well-located — not some random budget place. What also stood out was the cab arrangement. Driver was always on time, knew the routes well, and the vehicle was comfortable for the hilly terrain. Our coordinator Priya was responsive on WhatsApp throughout the trip. We had one small timing issue on day two and she got it fixed quickly over a call. No surprise charges at checkout either — everything was exactly as discussed.
