Arrival in Guwahati & Introductory Sightseeing
Arrive at Guwahati (Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport). Meet and transfer to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, visit Kamakhya Temple for panoramic views of the city and a short Brahmaputra riverfront walk. Optionally enjoy an evening cruise on the Brahmaputra River. Tip: Keep some local cash for small market purchases and boat tickets.
Drive to Kaziranga via Tea Gardens
After breakfast, depart for Kaziranga National Park (approx. 4-5 hours). En route, admire the rolling Assam tea gardens and stop for photos. Check in to your wildlife resort and attend a short briefing on park rules and safari timings. Note: Early booking recommended for elephant safari slots.
Morning Safari & Local Village Walk
Experience a morning jeep safari into Kaziranga National Park — famed for the Great One-Horned Rhinoceros, swamp deer, wild elephants and diverse birdlife. Return to the resort for lunch and relax. In the late afternoon, take a guided village walk to meet locals and learn about Assamese rural life. Wear comfortable shoes and carry water & sunscreen.
Optional Early Safari and Transfer to Jorhat
Optionally enjoy an early elephant safari (subject to availability) or a second jeep safari for different zones of the park. After breakfast, check out and drive to Jorhat — the gateway to Majuli. En route you may visit a tea estate or the Tea Research Institute. Overnight stay in Jorhat. Travel time approx. 2-3 hours from Kaziranga.
Ferry to Majuli & First Encounters with Satras
After an early breakfast, transfer to the river jetty and take a scenic ferry ride to Majuli Island — the world's largest river island. Check in to your guesthouse. Begin exploration with visits to famous Satras such as Kamalabari Satra and Auniati Satra to experience Vaishnavite culture, mask-making demonstrations, and traditional folk music. Keep cameras ready — the ferry crossing offers superb photo opportunities.
Full Day Cultural Immersion in Majuli
Spend a full day on Majuli exploring its cultural heartbeat: traditional mask makers, pottery villages, reed hut architecture, and interactions with local artisans and monks. Enjoy a demonstration of Sattriya dance and sample authentic Assamese cuisine. This day is family-friendly and excellent for children to learn craft skills.
Return to Guwahati via Jorhat / Sivasagar (Optional Historical Stops)
After breakfast, take the ferry back to the mainland and drive toward Guwahati. Time permitting, visit Sivasagar to see Ahom-era monuments like Rang Ghar and Talatal Ghar (optional stop). Arrive in Guwahati by evening and check in for the night. This is a longer travel day — carry light snacks and medicines for children.
Departure from Guwahati
After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning. Transfer to Guwahati Airport/Railway Station for your onward journey.
